That's awesome man, gliders are too cool. And if you keep going with your ratings youll be light years ahead of people stick and rudder wise. I'd love to look up where that school is in Florida and do some more flying myself, one glider flight isn't enough!

Actually they told me to stop as short as possiblle so I did and there was room on the other side of the glider for the tow plane to land

Around 10 hours with 21 flights

Had to do a go around on my first solo. There was a darn helicopter just sitting on the end of the runway not moving.

Thanks for the link, I watched your rope break video as well. Was that simulated or real?

Too bad you guys are on the wrong side of the state for me to participate :) . Would love to add a glider rating, and a tailwheel for that matter. And well, everything else. Need more $$$$$.

Most of the people in the club are retirees so i dont know if that applies to you but it is easy to get into IF there is a field nearby.

I'm not even 30 yet so I got time, hehe. There is a club near me and, it's just a matter of getting my butt in gear. I've got a flight in a pitts coming soon, can't wait. Nothing beats gliding though, with just the noise of the wind coming through the canopy vents.

Just out of curiosity, how much does a tow cost? and does the price wary with altitude?

I have a set of engine so I don't really know. Should probably go take a lesson in gliding myself.

Yes it does vary my club has several options but everywhere is different.

Rope Break= < 800ft AGL $15 or 20 (cant remember only done one of them)

Pattern Tow= <1500ft AGL $25 (where most of my went to during training)

2000ft = $30

2500ft = $35

3000ft = $40

Plus airplane rental field fee (if there is one) and an instructor fee

so the average flight cost me65 to 70 bucks (for a long flight not a 10 minuter)
