This might get nasty really fast, the waters in the Gulf are extremely warm and this thing is getting huge...
.... having said that.... come to Texas baby :aok

Why would you possibly want that thing to come near your home ?

Why would you possibly want that thing to come near your home ?
Houston currently needs 15+ inches of rain to get us out of this drought, and it is the same all around Texas and the South.
EDIT: Skuzzy the High pressure system is migrating East as we speak...it has a chance to leave a hole for the storm to enter :)
-
All of Texas needs the rain, badly. I'd welcome a tropical storm.
Unfortunately, the high pressure dome over us is like a rock imbedded in concrete. It simply will not budge.

I'm tired of fighting fires in 105 degree heat for starters.
-
Just saw a forecast model showing New Orleans getting up to 24 inches if it plays out.
-
Hope some of it reaches here in IL...........

Me too. We would not even hear about it unless it had winds over 100MPH. A tropical storm was just another rainy day in Corpus.

Yep but the surfing was good.

Back in the early '80s, when I got out of the service, I tested down in Houston and Dallas but didnt take it cause as much as I liked Texas I couldnt say I liked the heat. I took a combat course in the San Antone area in Jul/Aug in the '70s and I bet it was in the 100's every freaking day. We had a PX that was the only place that had AC and I bet I drank 9 pitchers of Coors every day after coming in from the field. Great state but to dang hot.
I like the entire south but as far as climate goes the high country of Arkansas, TN., MO.,NC.,SC.,WV. is south enough for me weather-wise.

Not just Texas, Oklahoma and southern Kansas aswell.

Upgraded to Tropical Storm Lee headed to New Orleans. Here in Baton Rouge they're expecting 5+ in. of rain. My daughter's 16th birthday is Sunday so hopefully it won't be so bad that we can't go to dinner and a movie at least.
-
the current tracker has lee going about 5 miles north of my house and we are predicting 10-15" of rain. luckily i live on top of a hill, right?

Well I hate to say it for you guy in Texas...especially Slash who has been out chasing fires but Lee abandoned all hope of helping you guys. Best bet is that another one gets sucked up into the wake he leaves behind and breaks through to help you guys out. As for Lee we are starting to get the early fringe rains up here in Birmingham and are expected to have the center mass of Lee pass about 10 miles north of my house sometime tomorrow. The good news is that the southern part of Alabama which is in a similar situation as most of Texas needs the rain since the last measurable rain they got was back in April.
