no, its not A.D.D. as in attention deficit disorder, its a arcitectual drafting and design class and our first assignment is to make a house on the computer, just the outside but i got stuck with a ranch-style city house and this is 10th grade stuff, but im only in 9th grade. so if anyone has some experience in this stuff, id like some help on how to crack this open because i have no experience with designing houses, ive designed cars and i also was 1 of only 5 people who got to design the new alberta kimball auditorium sign for my highschool's auditorium that they are re-modeling. i know that some people here have the know-how to design a house but i have no clue on how to really get it started. i already have the basement made, but im not really sure on what i should do for the first/second level(s)
any help would be appreciated.

in your Architectural class what program are they using to teach you kids? i would find ( using google search) a free home design programs, such as google skechup7 or 8 or Cadsofts Envisioneer express which is also a free download.
now if you really have the Bug for drawing i would go to best buy and look for Punch Pro drawing software, it's great entry level drafting program and is blueprint ready, meaning you can design complete plans from Foundation, Floorbeams to the Roof Trusses, Plumbing, Elect, Hvac and so on, it also comes with some generic home plans you can modify, it also allows you to landscape the property and design each room with furnishings and paint for a 3D walk through.

the program were using is a 10k $ software called autodesk inventor 2011 (the big companies like oshkosh truck use this, thats why it costs so much). the highschool just got a lend from it so they only have to pay 4k $ and all of my stuff is saved on there. the foundation is fine, out of the way, but the inside isnt something we gotta worry about. all we have to do is place walls and stairs in it. the roof on the other hand is going to be difficult. it has to have a dome and sloped on the sides, thats the part thats really going to kill me. i got the basic floor design down and im going to work on it some more when we get back to school on tuesday. but what i really want to know is how to design that roof, im not sure on how to go about making a dome roof with slopes.

download that program, i just did to check it out and see if its a good program, it would be a great program to help you draw, it has complete tutorials as you design to help you incase you get stumped, you can also design your roof system using that program as you can get a 2d and 3d look as your drawing.

oh and Zoom, that program works great! nice find :aok
Great!! hope you keep up the interest in drawing and design, whether it's commercial, residential, or Industrial. Cad work can bring some good bucks depending on what part of the country your in and what your specialty is, Residential design can start at $3-$6 a square foot with structural calculations/Spec's included to as high as $25 and up a Sq Ft for the high end architects,
