Hi,
I like the custom arena idea. I want to select an authentic plane/vehicle set pertaining to the years 1939-41.
A Brit/German battle over the English channel. !!This theatre only!! Not sure if C202's were there.
Am going to do a trawl thru' Wiki and build a list of planes/vehic's that we had from the USA at that time (if any). Either bought/borrowed/stolen or dragged out of scrap yards for the effort.
Any help appreciated

You watched Pearl Harbor didn't you? :noid
'39-41 over the channel... none.
there were of course a variety of foreign planes on hand being evaluated, but not in operational combat.
109e/110c/stuka vs spit/hurri1 is it as represented by the planeset we have. '42 and beyond is when you see american stuff getting into the mix. The Brits utilized most of the lend-lease stuff in the Pac, anyway.
If you want to see a mix, your best best is to look at the eastern front in '42-43... or the CBI/Pacific.
<edit: also take a look at the African/Med/Italian campaigns.)
-
'41 would have the Spit Vb, Hurricane IIc, Boston Mk III and Bf109F-4 as well.
-
true... but he's really looking for a way in include lend lease stuff.
-
Boston Mk III I think is the only thing used on that front in '39-'41 that is lend lease and in the game.

When did the RAF start operating Coastal Command Liberators? Admittedly they didn't go anywhere near the
continent :D

Thanks for the help
Just out of interest, what were the French/Dutch/Polish and Belgium flying, when the whole thing kicked off circa 1939?

Belgians had a Hurricane Mk I armed with four 12.7mm guns. That is the closest anything in AH comes to what those nations had. You might be able to substitute a P-40B for the Hawk 75 flown by the French and a D3A1 for the PZL P.11 flown by the Poles.

June 1941 - 120 Squadron based out of Nutts Corner, Northern Ireland.

Really...that would be interesting because 12.7mm are much more powerful than .303's. Makes you wonder why the RAF Spitfire's and Hurricane' were not also armed with 12.7mm MGs instead of the BB guns.

Logistics. The British had decided in 1938 that heavier guns were going to be needed, but that going to HMGs was not enough of an increase and would, at best, be a stopgap measure. They decided to skip over the HMGs and go straight to 20mm cannons.
-
Just read that we had a delivery of Bell P-39 "Aircobra".....flew them in 1941.
First combat mission was hitting some barges in Holland.
After that we used them for training until some mod's were carried out.

Ahhh, I was talkin more like the set of 20mm Cannon and the 4 12.7mm. That would have been just ridiculous lol! :O

The four 12.7mm guns were in place of the eight .303 guns on the RAF Hurricane Mk Is. Had the RAF used the four 12.7mm gunned Hurricane Mk I (and I agree it was a superior armament over the eight .303s) the 12.7mm guns would all have been replaced by the four 20mm cannon when they went to the Hurricane Mk IIc.
