If you join as a gunner do you stick it out?
How many who join as gunners stay with the flight, all the way to the end?
No matter how boring, do you stay with your Commander?
I never leave once I join...under any circumstance; its my bird too the moment I send the join request.
What say you?

no i use my shade account to come and shoot the guy down after i use up all his ammo

There should be a light in the cockpit to indicate to the pilot if his gunner is back there. The plane should also pulsate with an ominous orange aura so other players know that there's a gunner onboard.
-
The few times ive joined as a gunner I have stayed until the conclusion of the sortie. I have only gunned for players I know and usually use the two or three setor flight back for consuming additional adult beverages and engaging in interesting conversation with the Captain

GOD..... bwwahahaha two of the best answers i've seen psoted all year.

I will ride gunner untill wheels stop, death or all guns damaged; for just about anybody who requests it while I'm in the tower.

Last time I gunned for a green need a gunner request the inconsiderate bastage was waiting on the runway for a gunner. In a single B-25C.
I'm sure it was absolutely positively definitely one of a certain somebody's shade accounts.

You must be joking!
I'd rather I not know and treat it like sex before marriage. Just assume everyone has a STD (a gunner) and plan accordingly.

Oh thank you, I was really worried for a moment there.
I'd hate to have XBox types infiltrating the ranks of the CMs. :lol

oneway it depends on who you are gunning for. there's some guys that i have bailed 1 minute after joining because they were total buttonholes. then there's others that will just talk and bs so it makes it funny just to fly along. I once flew with walleye for over 2 hours on a 1/2 an hour mission. he and I talked and talked till he ran out of fuel and we hadnt bombed anything, but it was just a fun time. that's what makes it worth staying all the bs and crap that makes the time go by faster, that's why when i gunned for you the other day I stayed, it was just too much fun to bail out :).

Stick what out? :huh You're supposed to keep all body parts zipped and inside the aircraft while it's in motion! :bolt:

"Remember boys: 'Flies spread disease.....so keep yours closed.'" -Band of Brothers.
As for the OP's question: I do not bail.
-
I sitck it out for the duration if I gun for someone, Gives me time to have some good drinks and kick back an relax
-
I've had several join me in my bomber then fret at there being no gunner positions. Most of them then bail on me.
-
I think DM must have been my gunner a couple of times. On a serious note I treat gunner requests just like hitch hikers, I don't put on gunners I don't know. Most of them are new to the game and waste too much ammo.
-
I stay until the end but that is only a few seconds since I would only send a join request if Stang was trying to land or was in the midle of a fight. HT ruined the fun by making giving the option to send requests to the text buffer but don;t tell Stang. He does not know how to do it :D
-
stick it out! ... unless its down to the last ship, then I'll ask the pilot as they might want to gun.
-

me too.................... all or nothing. :aok
-
Im more then happy to gun for someone but cant stand when someone asks for a gunner and he's still 2 sectors away from any enemy, climbing, and asks for one with no need. I got btter things to do for an hour besides sitting in a gun position for a total stranger who had no business asking for one yet in the first place.
-
stick it out. :aok
-
i'll stay till the end, or if the pilot tells me when were clear and i can go if i want to, but i'll just ride it home :aok
-

Yes you would...what a bone head.
-
no i use my shade account to come and shoot the guy down after i use up all his ammo
That's Hilarious! :lol
-
Accepted a gunner once. Enemy on my tail and no guns shooting, could not get in guns myself as he was still there. Maybe he fell asleep? Won't have another gun for me until I can dump them out and they can ride the Chute home.
-
I normally only gun for squaddies or people I have worked with before (ex-squaddies, friends, etc). I will sometimes help someone out I don't know, but I have a thing about the pilot who asks for help and then jumps in the guns positions randomly, forcing me to fire from the drones. These morons get no notice when I leave. These are the same people who try to fly the bomber like a fighter when you are trying to gun for them.
-
What's a gunner?
-
to the OP, yes. i like riding along bombers just for fun. but it really depends on who's the guy flying the bomber, if its a complete noob who cant bomb for crap or someone who was spamming the country channel for a gunner, ill empty the guns for them...:lol
-
all the way :D :aok

Will stay the entire way if needed. What I do hate though is the new guy you try to be nice to. You join his plane as a gunner he then flys to 5K right into a furball and starts dog fighting in the buffs making it near impossible to shoot a damn thing and then squeaking at you for not shooting down the cons that ripped him a new one. Then after ranting he asks if you want to do it again. lol :bhead

Discerning bomber pilots screen their gunners...
Discerning gunners screen their commanders...
If the guy is flying a Lanc that is a Red Flag. If he flies from a forward base that is also a Red Flag
You can politely figure out the mettle of the bomber pilot by asking a few questions before joining up
The good bombers and good gunners tend to know each other...in fact they are typically both; good gunners are good bombers and vice versa
I love gunning as much as I love bombing; my old man gunned on 17G's in the war.
It is why I fly them, it is why I gun them

Oh I know Oneway lol. I usually only have this issue when I'm in an exceptionally friendly mood and randomly decide to help someone. :P
-
If I gun for someone I will stick it out, (basically to the point of clear skies in a friendly sector when someone almost to final approach).
One thing though I don;t dig is when Im gunning, and the pilot doesnt have a microphone. Communication is key in this game.
I also dont enjoy the person taking over a gun position that im occupying. If you requested a gunner, then fly the plane, and stay out of my gun positions.
I also very rarely ever take a gunner in my own planes. No need to explain why.
