Title: The death of my Mother.
Post by: TeeArr on September 06, 2011, 09:47:35 PM: To all of you who have already expressed their condolences, thank you. My mother passed away last night after a year long battle with lung cancer. Many of you will remember my father passed away a year ago at this time from the same thing. I will be out for a bit while attending to the matters of her estate, but will return as soon as I can. I remember all the kind thoughts and prayers the Aces High Community sent along when my dad died. I hope you will keep my family in your thoughts and prayers during this time as well.
Both of my parents smoked cigarettes since they were teens. There is no question as to what was the cause of both of their deaths. To watch them suffocating, and unable to catch their breath ...even while they were on oxygen, was heartbreaking. Nobody should die like that. If any of you are smokers and have thought about quitting,
I hope you consider it again. I have many friends on here. I couldn't bear watching that happen to you.

I am sad, but can find a little solace in that she is no long suffering. I have witnessed what you have, through my buddy who lost both parents with two months from Mesothelioma and Lung Cancer.

So sorry for your loss. I lost my parents to the same and it is a tough situation to be in. My father when I was 11 and my mother at 16 ... seemed then that it felt like forever that they were ill but, looking back it was a short time. Sorry your going through this loss and not much time between. Sending prayers your way and you know how to find me if you wanna chat.

I persuaded my wife to quit 20 years ago before we got married and she thanks me for that. If you can try to convince a loved one to quit it's the best gift you could give anyone.

Actually she was battleing it and tho I knew there was no way a 72yo was going to beat stage 4 lung cancer I thought we'd have 6 to 12 months left, another Thanksgiving, another X-mas. More time. Then one day she looked so bad from the radiation/chemo we had to bring her into the ER only to discover that she had contracted an infection and it was missed by the daily blood tests.

That day the Docs were talking they were going to get her better. The next day they said her vital organs were shutting down. The day after she was dead. At least her final wakeing moments were spent looking at her grandchildren and maybe God took her then just to spare her those final terrible months of fighting that disease.

I dont care if your a soldier, a medic, a Policeman, that has seen death hundreds of times. Nothing prepares you for watching your mom die.

Im sorry for your loss and will include you, and her, in my prayers.

I know how you feel i watched my great Uncle dye from smoking :( And i have not long lost my Grandfather alltho not from Smoking but it is hard to loose loved ones no matter what thier faults where be it smoking or drinking.

We lost Dad and Mom inside of 2 months in 2009.

It's never easy, but I can tell you that it does get better with time.

Keep touch with family, it helps.

Me and the Mrs will keep you and yours in our thoughts.
