So i see that a few guys decided not to follow the rules and make the gv fight one side cluster duck. think im done with fso, what part of the planes are not to engage the tanks. one side spoting is not very fair you think... might of well painted our tanks orange and have a beacon going off on top... nice job with the 30 min drive.
-
Don't let a few people stop you from coming to FSO. The CM will handle the issue.
-
I hope you filmed a few minutes of it so the Admins can deal with it.
Remember, GV part was supposed to be for fun...some guys take the game too serious. Don't let it turn you off from FSO.

It just was a bad night all around. game froze up un take off and had to do a hard reboot of the game. got stuck flying by my self trying to hook back up with sqd and got jumped by 6 190d. was a short fight in the air and the gv fight was a cluster to boot. the gaming the game that in the main arena has started to show its ugly face more and more in the fso of late....been playing this game for 10 years and the eye candy is great by game play is just getting worst and worst....might be time for a long break and try something different.
-
well we flew around for about an hour chasing Jet bombers and fighters we had no chance of catching, so we towered and jumped in tanks only to be popped by freakin king tigers upon reaching the fight. At least you got shot at.
-
I travelled in my jet at near 500mph, 300odd miles to shoot down any allied spotter planes.
I know when I got there I didnt engage any tanks, I had full ammo counts from my refuelling at Kessel.
I saw a greenie mark a M3 via shooting the ground though.
I don't think shooting the ground for marking is technically engaging tanks, but perhaps the CM may want to revise the rules as the allies didnt think to send airsupport to the GV fight.
-
with out double checking the map. i believe the tank battle was deep in enemy controled sector.. the message clearly said this is a tank battle only. no planes allowed...........
-
23 was a friendy airbase, seems we have a boarder dispute brewing :uhoh :uhoh

Of course its not...not technically
But you know exactly what it was...pretending otherwise is disingenuous to say the least
The vehicles were to engage and fight other vehicles...without participation or interference from aircraft...
I love this tap dancing that goes on time and time again...
"Technically..."

Some tanks were shot at and some planes shot the ground. Still poor sportmanship. But it's a plus since they were wasting their time spotting/shooting at us rather than shooting at our planes. It makes ya look pretty smart right? :headscratch:

23 was the base we gved from. was not active air base to launch planes from.

Just to clarify, Flight was disabled, no aircraft were launched from that base

And that matters in the context of this discussion how?
It has been proven over and over and over again...
Some pilots just cannot stay out of a GV battle period...
All of the rules and writeups in the world will never change that
No wonder GV guys never want to get involved in Scenarios and other events
edit: The only thing that would have kept planes away from the GV's would have been to have NO planes at all period

Evey once in a while you will have people/squads gaming the game and CM gets right on top of that. Other time you will have people/ squads that do what they want to and not play by the rules or assignment.
Keep in mind that FSO is not "fog of war". I wish for a few things to change or brought into FSO , but the CM staff develop FSO so if fits everybody. Yes, there are some events that just plane sucks, but try to make the best of it. A little brake may bring that itch for you to come back.

Loved the King Tigers during FSO, what idiot put them in there and why? Germans already have Aircraft strafing and spotting Tanks, what MORE could one side possibly want?
-
Rules were not to attack. No where does it say anything about spotting.
I see easy fighter kills for an allied sweep right there.

Previous FSO, I was attacked and strafed by 4 p47s.

the gv battle was a "for fun" thing, not an official part of this setup. after t-60 some of the axis squads that thought they could get there and back to home base before the end of the frame decided to venture down by the tank battle to spot for the axis tankers. they actually hoped the allies would have planes doing the same thing, guess the allies didn't think about that. the planes are not supposed to attack the tanks, that's it. spotting and marking with guns is not forbidden.
it's not like you were being picked on by the other kids on the playground and there were a good number of people who had problems during the frame, always is. if everyone who got discoed or had a bad experience during a frame acted like a petulant child, the fso wouldn't be worth the time or effort for anyone who enjoys ah at face value without any grandiose expectations or delusions of grandeur.

I can only speak for myself and the members of my squad on this. We were assigned to defend the AAA factory. After the attack was over, and it was obvious there was not another one coming, we deployed to the south. The reason we did so was not originally to spot for our tankers... our base in that area was flashing... and was the only one that was... indicating there had to be enemy aircraft in the area. So we went down there to run a fighter sweep and take out any AC that might be over the GV zone.
The base stopped flashing before we arrived... but we kept going... thinking that there may be enemy aircraft inbound, or nearby, or possibly rearming at one of the nearby allied bases.
Upon arrival, we were the only AC in the skies... so we flew around and spotted for a while.
After a few minutes of this... I got bored, it was late, I was tired, and there wasnt much left of the frame... so I landed and logged off.
I personally fired no rounds at any allied GV, although I did call out positions. If this is in any way a rules violation, I apologize. But it was never our intent to attack any GV's during the fight, and we didnt.

Presuming it is the intent of the CMs that there be no aircraft near the GV follow-on battle, wouldn't a simple "No Fly Zone" solve this debate?
If that is not the intent, then we've wasted too many brain-bytes on this topic already.
For the Record: There was no intent by the axis aircraft (of which I am aware) to bend or stretch any rules.
-- By the same token, there were no articfical constraints levied either...we read the rules and played within them to the best of our ability.
Over 2 frames, both sides have used spotters at the GV battle.
We respect the huge level of effort thatt the CMs/designers of these events put forth so that we (ALL) can enjoy them.

If there isn't a decision made on the no fly zone by the next frame - I would seriously consider modifying my flight plan according to this.
-
For the record, no GVs were spotted for me with the 2 kills I had.
The tanks gave themsleves away firing on other targets. I was already in town waiting on any advancements from the South. The first one was hard to spot but once seen firing, I zeroed in and fired away. The second one ran from my left to right and stopped short of the gray destroyed building you can hide tanks in. I killed it before it could get inside it.

All of this crying for something the CMs put in for fun. Even if you get bombed by something, it doesnt count. None of it counts. Having planes flying near shouldnt bother you. I would just be thankful that you have a chance to do something after getting owned.
