First off I am not a CM, the start time is not changing and the results of this thread are not necessarily an indicator as to whether or not the start time will ever change.
I just wanted to pull this out of the other thread and try and get a feeling for what the FSO community at large felt for changing the start time of FSO. I fully understand the need to start FSO late to allow the west coast guys the opportunity to play, but I believe if the start time was pulled back an hour to 10pm EST it would have minimal impact on the west coast guys and be a great help to the east coast guys. 7pm PST is past most normal working hours and most people have finished dinner by then. Midnight still makes for a pretty late night, but I know at least for myself it sure beats 1am.
So I am just looking for opinions from everyone that either plays FSO, or might be interested in playing FSO, on whether or not they would prefer a 10pm EST start time. Or if anyone else has another proposed start. This is only meant to be used as feedback to the FSO CM staff. :salute

An opinion poll should be established on this regard.
-
We could just shoot you down first...you'd be in bed by 11:30pm. :neener:
Being in Central time zone, I'm fine with it either way and will go with whatever the FSO CM team decides.

Hehe, there's been a couple nights where I have tucked in early. :)
-
I'm west coast and have no problem with a time change.
-
i'm in central time and i intentionally don't plan anything on friday nights so a time change would be of little consequence...unless i forget :headscratch: :old:
-
West coast here as well, so seven works just as well as eight. :rock
If the East coast people would like it to start an hour earlier I wouldn't have a problem with it.
Any more than an hour earlier, and I would have difficulty making it.
-
If you pull back FSO start 1 hour, it's about 4 beer less in the night. My doctor would be ok with that........ :cry
Seriously though, I have no problem with it either way. I live in East. TZ and 10 is as good for me as 11. I will fly whatever the hour. FSO is all that secure my 15$/month for HTC.
-
I think we could get more participants an hour earlier.
My vote would be, if we were taking a vote,... try it at 10:00 PM est.
-
Since I did most of my staying up late in the 90's, a 10PM start would be much better thing for me and most of my squad

Yeah I think more than an hour earlier wouldn't be fair.
-
You must also consider the European and Asian/Pacific players. An hour could mean more of a change to them than to the US East Coast players.
-
I will be there if it is 5 AM. Makes no difference to me.
-
There is a poll up now. I will get it as a sticky soon.
-
You probably lose just as many as you gain so you most likely end up with the same numbers across the board and no real increase or decrease in participation.
Probably end up loosing more players overall in the summer time and spring for those of us that actually have a life away from AH. I am not adjusting plans for outdoor activities or with family members by trying to hurry things along just to be back in time to hop in a virtual plane and get the FSO time. Odds are most people are going to be in the same situation; especially if FSO is the primary time that they interact with their squadron buddies.
-
So players that rather start at 10pm instead of 11pm so they aren't up so late so they can have an easier time getting up earlier to enjoy Saturday morning have no life outside AH?
Why not just express your opinion and spare us the darts?
-
If you took that to be directed at you then so be it; it wasn't directed at you or anyone else in particular. It was a statement that I made concerning me and me alone.
-
As far as us central time players go, I don't see any real advantage or disadvantage to a change. In my case 10pm is perfect. It gives me a few hours after I get done with class to get anything done that needs to be done, and maybe go out and do whatever beforehand.
-
I am in the central zone also and an hour would help. Most Sat. I have to be up early, and a lot of people with kids have a full day on Sat. Certain times of the year make it even tougher.
There will be some that have a tougher time making it for sure. But the question is how many will have an easier time making it. Get your fellow FSO players to vote and see what happens.
-
I am planning on being there today, but all this talk of changing the time is making me anxious - what time does the event start(PST) - and yes, I will be there very early to get signed in.
-
8 PM PST. Ruah, the change wont go in effect until next month (Im guessing).
-
Actually... they havent said it will change at all... even if there is a majority that want it. They are just using it as a guide to aid them in any decision.
The FSO staff is not required to make any changes to the start time as a result of the poll but the poll will be used to guide us in a final decision on this matter. Thank you.

Well as someone who recently moved to the East coast from the West I can tell you the 8pm start there is what kept me out of it due to kids and family. But i can also say that moving it to 7 or even 6 pst wouldnt have helped either as that is dinner time for most and I wouldnt have been able to play then either. For those that either family time isnt as important or needed I would think any start time would work for them regardless. Now that Im on the East Coast im looking forward to finally participating in FSO.

One hour earlier would be better for many, many players. A lot of younger fellers have to be in bed by midnight
-
Many teens go out by midnight. Many old-folk also need to be in bed by midnight.... So Don't go fixin what isn't broken.

:headscratch:
Moving it forward one hour would make that possible.

And if an East coast family wants to go to a movie before fso? They would need to get off work an hour early just so they make it before fields open. As I said FSO is not broken so don't screw something up by messing with it.
