It's green u see the barrel and it has no bafferler and caption says "I can't drive 25" kind looks like a Sherman turret

perhaps the M18??? The pic doesnt show the open turret very well, the only other clue would be the 71 rounds of ammo and the left mounted .50 cal AA gun. ;)
Too bad it isnt an updated Panzer IV H. :cry

Barrel is too long and the M3 could not go 51+ mph.
Also, it isnt the M8 because that could carry 80+ rounds of ammo and the .50 cal was not mounted on the left.
EDIT: I just looked at some blueprints of the M18, it did have the bars just like they are modeled here across the front and over the center from front to back, the .50 cal was on the left and set back. Even that little lid that is bolted or riveted down on the left front top of the turret is accurate. I'm quite confident it is the M18. :aok
EDIT #2: I did not realize that the M18 only has a 3 speed transmission. I hope people realize that if they think the T34 has a hard time climbing hills just wait until they attempt it with the M18, it will have even LESS available power. Also, just a reminder that the M18 has little more practical armor than the M8 Greyhound, so it will be a camper or a flanker, but not a 1v1 level playing field engagement tank.

That pretty much looks like the stuart for me. Im surprised cuz thats a weak tank what played a very little role in the ww2, so no other reason to add that its american.

No real reason to perk an M18, armor is very thin. Was made to shoot and scoot, not slugging matches with other tanks. Will be great for flanking the bigger heavier German tanks though. Should be fun :aok

ive discussed with pyro before and he said months ago it would most likely need a small perk value to make up for its speed and punch...

i thought its gun was the one on the M4-76(w)? the speed obviously needs perking, maybe 2 perks but at max id say the m18 is going to be perked at maybe 14.

if it was a M10 you would also be able to see the 2 rings on the sides of the turret shield. also, it would be as rounded and it would go out further. BTW a single pass from a 109E and its dead. no taters required :D

the 2 rings went above the shield. just slightly though, about 1.5 CM
and the 109E with its 2 bb guns/cannons could easily kill it. heck even a P40B would kill it in a single pass.

Stupid question.....if the M18 has an open turret, wouldn't that appear to limit its gameplay here? Meaning....any aircraft could come along and strafe it and kill the turret? Please correct me if I misunderstand something here.

i said the rings would stick up ABOVE the turret about 1.5cm from that view. and the M8 is just a wee bit tougher than the M3. and even the M3 gets owned by a p40b.

And when was the last time you tried strafing an M8 dude? If they were that easy to kill, theres not a chance they would need a perking since a single aircraft could kill a couple dozen single handed.

last time i strafed a M8? not long ago. you must be firing at short range on the M8, as im killing it from d200 out when im shooting at around d800.

If you get a 12 second burst on him, yes, he'll die. But if hes smart, you'll only get a 2-3 second burst at most.

Baring getting stupid lucky, you aren't going to kill one with a Spitfire Mk I. Go offline, set one of the tank drones to be an M8 and strafe away at it and see how long it takes to kill.
It probably won't like Il-2s or Hurricane Mk IIDs very much though.

Its "punch" will be the same as the M4/76mm (same exact ammo) and its speed will be just a wee bit more than the M3, however the armor will be hardly different than the M8. I bet it wont have much of a perk cost assigned, it is too fragile and speed it really all it can rely on. Once it stops it is as good as dead if another tank gets a round off on it.
EDIT: Just an FYI: the M18 has 13mm of armor all the way around the hull (front, sides, top, rear), and the turret has 25mm all the way around with another 19mm up front on the mantlet. The M8 has 19mm/16mm on the front hull, and 9mm all the way around the rest of the vehicle. So it isnt going to be difficult to knock this thing out with accurate MG fire from above. Oh, and did I mention the open turret? Same fixed 5X main gun sight as the M4/76mm. Anyone know what the turret traverse rate was?

Hell, you can knock this thing out with the pintle gun if you're good. I'll laugh my arse off the first time I see BAR sigh on 200 about how his M18 isn't as great as he thought it would be.

I think it will be a case of people loving it or hating it. It will not be a dueling tank, it cant not stand and duke it out, it has to be able to "shoot-n-scoot" or else it will get sent back to the hanger. Count on it.
It will either be a camper's delight (rapid deployment), or a very valuable asset in legit group tank battles where they can make a wide sweeping flaking maneuver and get in position for a side shot. Otherwise, it is simply an M4/76mm with very thin armor if it move to up to a skirmish line. The M3/75's were a pain in the arse for a bit of time after they showed up, but they've backed off quite a bit. The M18, depending on the perk price, could prove to be more of a pain in the arse too until the "new" wears off.
It will be fun to have, I've always said it would add something AH does not currently have: a fast, lightly armored, hard hitting gv. Add in the fact that it is very susceptible to having its turret knocked out by aircraft, it is not going to replace anything. It will be something to be deployed only if a few things are apparent: other gv support, room to use the speed, and minimal enemy aircraft threat. This wont be a "cement hugger" like the Kiing Tiger, etc. ;)

Like many things in the Main Arena, it has to be deployed in a certain situation same for most Low end eny aircrafts in the LWA. Sure you can up a P40b and fly around, it doesn't mean it will last - however in a typical horde setting it will fly just fine. The M18/M10 would do quite nicely as long as it has air support, close GV support and no I-16s around to disable it.
One thing I do agree is that it would not be a cement hugger. Whether its the M10 or M18, both would be used rather then the typical "lets sit on cement and shoot a few rounds till someone pings us with a 37mm then land".
I am not sure about using an M18 for camping a spawn, paper thin armor even an M8 laughs at, its tough to clamp down a spawn unless you got serious armor like a Panther/Tiger which can dominate a spawn on its own - even an M18 can't break through unless the "camper" is new.
The M18 has its purpose in Aces High, we can argue the attributes it has all night long, someone will still up it regardless for enjoyment and fun as I have been upping the I-16 for the last few days, although horribly slow in the late war arena - I still have fun watching spitfires try to out turn me.
May get 1 kill and die 100 times, but I am having fun as I pay for :)

its gun wasnt the 75mm. it was a long barrel 76mm gun like the one found on the M476(W)

Not that it is a big deal, but it was the ammo was the same, not the cannons. The M18 has a different 76mm cannon. Think of it as firing as the difference between firing a .30-06 out of a Remington rifle vs a Winchster rifle.
I'm not sure which cannon had a faster reload rate, I dont have any info on the that. ANyone?

you guys are saying this like i dont know. but im sorry to say but that punch does not involve the 76mm M1A1 cannon alone but the 60mph top speed also. usually a heavy tank can turn to kill an M4/76mm fast before it hits the flank. The M-18 is fast enough to get to that position so the M1A1 will be much more lethal bud. Punch does not involve cannon alone but the overall effectiveness to deal the most damage <S>

youre incorrect on the cannon difference. both are the 76.2mm M1A1 cannon. Neither the M-18 nor the M4/76mm use the older M-10's M7 3" (76.2mm) cannon. (these are the only two 76mm cannons used by the US in WWII). The only difference between the M7 and M1A1 is that the M1A1 was lighter. All its actions and ammunition are equivalent in firepower and accuracy <S>

Thanks for the advice :aok I'll stop doing that and go back to the Sherman with the rockets for camping spawns.

Well I don't feel the need to over analyze this new cartoon tank. I would say maybe 1-3 perk like the m4.

youre incorrect on the cannon difference. both are the 76.2mm M1A1 cannon. Neither the M-18 nor the M4/76mm use the older M-10's M7 3" (76.2mm) cannon. (these are the only two 76mm cannons used by the US in WWII). The only difference between the M7 and M1A1 is that the M1A1 was lighter. All its actions and ammunition are equivalent in firepower and accuracy <S>
Reload rate was based on space to move fast and the crew itself. seeing as how we do not model tank crews' veterancy in AH i have a feeling the open turret will allow a faster paced reload but that is speculation.
Good call on the 76mm/3in cannon issue. Prior to double checking a printed source I thought the M10 and M4/76 shared the same cannon. Regardless, same ammo and same ammo performance. Only the reload time is in question. I would like to think the M18 would have a slight reload rate advantage, but who knows.

I'm not sure if its even perk worthy. I was expecting the M3/75 to recieve an ENY drop to at least 35 (what the LVTA4 is). It seems HTC doesn't put much stock in speed being the equal of armor in terms of surviabilty.

but why would the M3 get a eny drop? its killed by a pintle gun and its turret FOV sucks, also, not to mention the gun can hardly penetrate a panzers front armor at 1k.

Same holds true for the LVTA4. M8 can't punch through anything but the turret at anything past about 200yds or so. Every other cannon-armed vehicle has an ENY of 35 at most (again, even the LVTA4, which is almost impossible to kill a tank with). So when the M3 gets a cannon, why is it unreasonable to expect them to follow the same pattern?

No reason the should. I haven't had any trouble killing M3/75's, in fact a bit easier than LVTA4's at first impression.

I bet there will be a small perk price on them simply because otherwise they will be used to consistently in the kamikaze mode and they will be very good at it too

been rethinking the perk (pyro when i PM'd him had said there will be a perk if the GV added and that was 5 months ago) but now im thinking 2-4 perks. you gotta think, the armor of the M4/76 is iffy at times also... include the 60mph top end and well... it's deadly

if its that cheap it will certainly be a perk farmer, I was guessing around 10 perks due to the speed.

Actually, the rate of fire is a bit slower than the M-4. While the turret is open-topped, it is smaller. There is less space between the gun's breech and the rear of the turret.

Not when it takes 3 rounds of HE to take down a building. ;) The US 76mm M1A1 cannon has the weakest HE tank round in the game. I'll be surprised if HTC even gives the M18 the option to take a full load of HE, TD units usually did not carry HE rounds on par with the AP ammo (they carried some, but certainly not comparable to tanks). I also would not be surprised if HTC gives some of the high velocity AP rounds to the M18 that were available to the76mm M1A1 cannon.
Its main purpose was to hunt tanks, not tear town enemy defenses and engage infantry.

It does not matter if it is a weak HE round, th ability to get enough guns on town with troops makes for a vey quick take of a field. On the defend side it is a great way to get a good longgun into the town center dor defense.

That pretty much looks like the stuart for me. Im surprised cuz thats a weak tank what played a very little role in the ww2, so no other reason to add that its american.
