Well, we just got a new Vizsla puppy. An 8 week old female we've decided to call "allie". I love the breed, doesn't really shed, and the hair is nice and short as well as brown, so it doesn't show.
Only annoying thing is that they're really high engery breeds. She wakes up at 5 AM and wants to play the "chew on your face" game.
-
Where's the pics, and they don't have to be of her chewing on your face, but it would be appreciated. :devil

i have a cat tho, he likes to lick my forehead at 5 in the morning for fun. once im awake he runs out of the room. :bhead all 2 hours before my alarm goes off.

dont you know, puppies are worse then children? more energy then in the damn things then is good for them. eat sleep and play is all they care about.

Haven't taken any pics (no camera). Gonna borrow a friends and take some tommarow.

if vizslas are anything like labs - have a nice 2 and 1/2 years.
-
Labs can be easily trained. :)

Correction, more like 5-6 years.
I have a black lab, 6 years old, acts like she's 6 months most of the time.

congrats on the new family member! can't wait to see pics!

Congrats

Good luck with the new pup,if you think it has alot of energy now just wait! It's still a baby and will sleep alot once it's a couple months old it will be nonstop gogogo.
Vizsla's are high energy dogs, they're most at home in the field and can run all day long and if you dont exercise these dogs you'll find they will find ways to keep busy.Favourite things to keep busy with include eating shoes, sock and under clothes, they also love anything leather, ball mitts and coats being high on the list.
Point is you must work this type of dog EVERY day, this means 4 or 5 hours of running,if you jog or ride bikes these dogs make great companions. If your like me and arent very active there are much better breeds!
Most pups are good to start, they become a problem if you dont occupy them enough, chew items is often done out of boredom.A tired pup is a good pup and Vizsla's have lots of energy so be prepared to do your part.
My cousin has a Vizsla, when I asked him why a Vizsla he said it keeps my kids busy, thats a good thing he had a boatload of kids!!! :)
Good luck with the new pup, they are great dogs that train well because they are a smart breed.
:salute

I have a 10 year old lab that loves to run the fence. He was my hunting dog but he is retired now.
He loves riding in the back of my truck too. He takes commands very well with nothing more than a hand signal.

That is something I love about my mate...over the years through I, spose just bonding (no formal training) I too just have to use hand signals...all I need from him is eye contact (which he is very loyal and always watching where I am) and he will obey the smallest of signals..He doesn't bark either...can't stand barky dogs.....I prefer him to just arrived un announced and say ...hello.....and he has had a permanent seat shotgun since he was 6mths

Posted this pic a while back, our pup Boston Terrier (4mos old) He apparantly had a major issue with the 8pk of papertowels my wife bought, and the basket, and the plant, and the pillow..... My fault, I left him alone for a half hour after the wife said "you can trust him" His name is Deacon, I call him "crackhead". Took 2 hrs to clean up the Den, "Bounty the quicker picker upper" my butt.

One of my girls is a pit bull mix... she's a real hateful monster, for sure.
Here she is terrorizing the cats:

vicious, I tell you.

I first saw him when he was 6 mos old, pointing a pigeon in the park where I was walking my Lab.

One look and I knew he was a natural. I went up to his owner and introduced myself. It turns out she bought a Pup out of this sire http://www.buschvizslas.com/askim.htm because she thought the breed was athletic and she needed a canine jogging partner. I hunted this vizsla for the next 13 years, guided with him at hunt clubs, and I couldnt begin to count the number of birds he found for me. But mostly I remember walking him around the park where he loved to chase squirrels and just spending time with him. I miss him so much I havnt been able to buy another bird dog since I scattered him where we used to hunt. You couldnt have picked a more talented, loyal, feerless breed of animal then your vizsla.
Oh and his owner ? 6 mos after meeting the pup I married her. God luck with your pup.
