Title: Thunder over Blue ridge air show crash.
Post by: Stixx on September 17, 2011, 07:00:45 PM
Real shame to see this happen after yesterday's incident in Reno.

Took two of my grandsons to watch the show. The oldest was pretty shook up by what happened. He kept asking why no one was running to help the pilot. A tragic end to what had started out as a great day.

What's up with all these car crashes?  http://www.car-accidents.com/pages/stats.html. More than a 100 people day killed in car crashes.  Where's the hysteria about that?

A valid point.  Correlation does not imply causation.  That is to say, there is nothing to link these plane crashes but the pattern-forming behavior of the human brain.

...Im afraid all these crashes are going to bring some heavy laws and restrictions upon the aircraft for future shows.

This only helps the argument some people say that these old planes should be left in museums instead of still flying.

cars are one thing. planes, a whole different story. planes can cause alot more damage than cars and usually end up with deaths.

Well don't check the NTSB aviation accident database then.

I had seen the Trojan Horsemen perform at Dakota Thunder in South Dakota this summer..

So sad to see this, as well as the other major crash, happen.

Prayers upon the wings of the Trojan Horsemen, and all others  :frown:

That is a completely ignorant statement.  You are exactly the person the news media caters to.  An average of 40,000 people a year killed in car wrecks in the U.S.  That doesn't stir up enough hysteria so, the media uses aircraft accidents to do it because they are way more infrequent and stir up more sensationalism, just as your statement demonstrates.   A fatality in an airplane or a car is still just as dead.
