Title: Rugby world cup
Post by: JimmyC on September 18, 2011, 03:07:29 AM
its been great so far, obviously as a Brit , I have been enjoying our games but been watching the others too.
I think the level of play of all teams is very good and the underdogs in the competition have been putting up a sterling effort.
Ireland's victory over Australia was a  good example of this. USA and Georgia have been putting on a good show too.
Its great to see such quality play and I know New Zealand is a buzz at the moment as hosts of the competition.
Its all looking set to be a fantastic tournament, bring it on.
C`mon Eng-er-land....

Aye there has been some outstanding efforts from the lower tiered teams...really bringin it to the big guns and making them look quite average.....In many cases it has been luck that has kept the scores possitive for the big boys..

I was lucky enough to get to see the Ireland USA game last week. Ireland easily handled the USA using their superior forwards. :frown: It was siad their backline had a very bad game.
Hopefully another match will be aired this Sunday here in the states.

Man that Irish team is on fire...they beat the Aussies this weekend...just out played and muscled them.....the Georgians although not winning on the scoreboard really showed it to England and were unlucky to not have a closer score..pretty much just came down to fitness..

I went to see France play Fiji, in Brisbane for the 2003 world cup, fiji were really giving it to France in the first 1/2 hour and the whole stadium was cheering for the underdog, France eventually overcame them with experience and stamina.

I love rugby! Went to college to play football and when that didn't work played rugby. Our team finished my first year ranked in the top-10 nationally.

Ok, braggn aside, I have only been able to watch Ireland beat our Eagles 22-10. Great game. In the end I want to see a final four with the Kiwis, Springboks, England and Australia though two of these won't make it that far. Thrilling!

Played rugby in college as well.  Started at 8 man for WVU for 3 years. Made conference allstar team my last year and played in a national invitational allstar tourney in Indianapolis (got our backsides handed to us). The team with the Ohio State players had a fullback who was making penalty kicks from 70 yards.

One of the most frustrating parts of the game, I'm surprised Johnny Wilkinson didn't have a contract out on him after kicking England to a win against Australia in 2003.

It was very frustrating.  Every penalty , no matter where on the field, this dude was taking kicks.

the Scotland Argentina match was a nail biter to the end,
I`m 1/2 scot so end result was hard to swallow but 1 point in a gruelling match
great viewing
watching England was great, really spread the play wide and used the backs loads, great to see..
looking forward to more matches (England - Scotland both my teams though)
As Maccy D`s would say  "I`m lovin it "

I was starting to get frustrated with all those scrum penalties going against the USA.   They played some awesome defense though.  Just outclassed in the scrum, and too many errors/turnovers.
