Title: b17 flying over Cleveland, OH
Post by: smoe on September 18, 2011, 11:11:40 AM
WOW, just spotted a B-17 flying over my house. I heard the roar and figured that isn’t just any airplane noise. I looked out the window just enough to catch it. All I have to say is $%$#%# awsome.

I've seen a B-17 before, It was named "Fuddy Duddy" one of the coolest experiences ever. Truly one of my favorite planes of all time.

A lancaster flew over my house at about 1 pm... nothing like 4 piston engines all synchronized

I live 3 miles from the end of the runway.  B-17's, Thunderbirds, Air Force 2, that big Russian behemoth, you name it, wind willing, they all fly right down my street.   :aok

Had a late night last night so was asleep for the 17 flyby today.   :bhead

Nothin' like a modern escort for a highly prized and historical bird.

Pardon my asking, but what would the blackhawks do to protect the B-17?

:old: When you get to my age....... :headscratch: damn, forgot what I was gonna say.

Last night around midnight, something BIG and prop powered took off and flew overhead. I didn't get outside in time to see it, nor did I find any oil drops on our cars this morning so I can't say if it was the 17, but it was definitely not commercial.

No, other side of runway, w130 and Brookpark.  I grew up in North Olmsted though.  Off Mackenzie, south of Elizabeth, on Cypress.  The wife graduated Olmsted Falls though.

Ya know, you have no choice but to go to the Dayton gathering now next year.
