Hello,
Has anyone played this game? It's very challenging, and the modding community is HUGE! It's very immersive, while fun at the same time. You have to figure everything out, and timing is critical. I love it, it's free, too!
Check it out at: http://orbit.medphys.ucl.ac.uk/ (http://orbit.medphys.ucl.ac.uk/)

"Fed up with space games that insult your intelligence and violate every law of physics? "
Lol. Nice intro.
Is it the type of game that parades itself as being "Free" but in reality, caters mainly to the paying customeR?

Aren't they all?

No. :huh This guy does it as a hobby, and the only way that money goes from the user to him is via donation (which does not unlock any new content). Here is a link to the terms of service: http://orbit.medphys.ucl.ac.uk/terms.html (http://orbit.medphys.ucl.ac.uk/terms.html) In brief, it states that the user may use it for free, and distribute it without permission as long as he/she references the name of the software. Undocumented mods must warn of potential incompatibility, and there must be no money made via distribution or pay-to-play systems.
It is free, absolutely 100% free. There is nothing that can be bought, even if the user attempted to.

This is a FREE game. It has been around for many years. It is not for the Mathematically challenged or those that dont understand Physics of Solids and Celestial Mechanics. There is much more in there besides the Orbiter. This is not an Arcade Game. The guy running the site, (Assuming it is the same guy I have spoken with many times over the years) is a very good person and will provide you with some advice on this game.

You're right on the non-arcade part, I'm still struggling to escape Earth's atmosphere!

I was *just* thinking of this game the other day wondering if it was around, after reminiscing about AW...I always managed to explode right before take-off lol.

Just downloaded it and took Atlantis for a spin. Got the soundpack as well.
Looks like tons of fun and a very helpful community to boot.
