Well not exactly new(We have been taking care of him for 2 weeks now) this is the dog that got shot with the pellet gun and picked up. Some lady in Idaho decided that she was going to adopt him sight unseen and contacted Pilots N Paws for transport from San Antonio. She got a pilot who was willing to take him from Amarillo to Colorado Springs, and I volunteered to take from from San Antonio to Amarillo.
Well tonight she cancelled (for the second time THE NIGHT BEFORE) and said she doesn't think she has the financial measn to support another animal. (You'd think that'd be one of the first things you think about when you adopt a dog)
Here's a good picture of him

You can see on his back legs where he got shot with the pellet gun, oh well, atleast he has a good home now.
(What I wouldnt give to get my hands on the salamander that shot him, though.)

Good to see a happy dog thanks to a caring person. :aok

Obviously he's happy where he is, how blurred is tail is in the picture.
-
Well done Tup... I'd take him but I'm over dogged right now.

You're a good person Tupac :aok. I took in a stray lab pup earlier this year, was so glad to find her a home. I don't think my German Shepard was going to put up with a puppy much longer then he did :lol

I adopted a dog like that, but my great aunt came by to feed him, and she let him run off.
About 3 months later, I adopted the bigger dog in the pic. He was scrawny. The vet said he was about 9 months old, and he was 29 pounds. He had infected ears, and his little short tail that was infected, it looked terrible and the hair still grows back in black. It cost me like $300 to get him sorted out on the first vet visit. I wouldn't trade him for anything. I did buy the puppy, that is 5 months old now. I think they are the same breed, and she is the same weight at 5 months, that he was at 9.

Looks like you have a new best friend. :aok
A rescued dog, especially one that's been abused will love you like no other. :salute

I don't know how long ago this was but now days I consider "chipping" to be a must for any pet.

Tupac, I'm on the board of directors for our local Humane Society and I want to thank you for your efforts. You're a compassionate man, <S> and may your karma always be good.

Skrappy and Major, circa 1998 or so..... Skrappy (left) was adopted from an animal shelter and had been abused. Major was a starved and diseased puppy when he happened to wander up to our house in 1996. Two of the best dogs ever. We lost Major in 2002 to a tumor, and Skrappy lived to be 14 years old when we lost him last year.

Crazy guy always bailed out of the window instead of using the front door!

Ours is a shelter dog, but not abused, just neglected and dropped off at the shelter because they decided he wasn't a cute little puppy any more, so they didn't want him. Had him for a year and a half, and everyone we meet comments about what a sweet and loving dog he is.
Everyone who wants a pet should have to get one from a shelter. Most of the time, the animals that are there and up for adoption are there through no fault of their own and make much better pets that mass-produced 'puppy mills' can ever turn out.

And before someone comments on the mess- this is the mud/storage room, combination dog heaven and repository for stuff that's too old or junky to be used every day, but still too useful to throw out.
This is him pouting because the kitten we just got (also a rescue- he was found abandoned and abused on the side of the road not far from our house) doesn't want to play with him (I'm serious, the poor dog has a complex now).
