How about a button to tap just once to raise the flaps from full flaps instead of rapidly tapping the "raise flaps" button multiple times?
-
Not a bad idea. :aok
Also how about an analog flap function? Even if it works only with the min/max positions on the slider acting as the standard up/down function.

some airplanes actually had multiple flap settings, not just a single lever pull or button push for full extend or retract. some aircraft, like the spitfires, do indeed extend and retract with the single push of a button. it's good the way it is IMO. -1

Spits only have one flap setting...UP and DOWN (ok 2 settings)...My wish refers to the cartoon aircraft in the game, not the real planes and the planes with more than 1 flap setting, which most do. +1

thats what im saying. if it has one setting, it should take 1 action (button push in game.) if it has 5 settings, it should take 5 button pushes. how hard is it, realistically, to push the button a few extra times? i understand that your wish pertains to toon planes, which IMO are already dumbed down enough.

The auto-retracting flaps is enough of a hand holding feature, we don't need to add an additional one because some find it hard to raise flaps.
ack-ack

Don't find it hard...just easier I guess to hit one button to fully raise flaps instead of tapping buttons....
I thought I saw HiTech mention something about this in an unrelated topic but I haven't been able to find it yet...

A full flaps up/down addition to AH would more closely model the real flap controls that let you set full up or down as well as any intermediate setting.
Some controllers let you send multiple delayed presses with one button press. If you also program a shift key the same button can be full up/down and incremental up/down.

Every airplane I flown had flaps that could be retracted in one motion, just move the switch though multiple flap settings. So I think analog would be the best for AH.

That's because HTC does not want to have everyone learning the flap speeds for every type of airplane. See you don't want to be studding V speeds for each airplane before the flight, and you don't want to rip your flaps off all the time so auto-retraction is the best option here.

Moving the switch through multiple flap settings sounds a bit like pushing the button once for each setting. :devil
I don't mind pushing the button 5 times because the commands queue.
A full up/down option would be confusing for newbies once they get out of the Spitfire but it would still be a nice option.
Analog might be difficult to implement because you still want to limit the number of flap positions to keep the flight modeling reasonable.

I use the AV8R-01 cause it's a sweet stick and has some weight to it... on the backside, there's 4 toggle switches and a neat little knob. I set my knob control mode 2 engine on off, so I get to turn a Key... That's pretty sweet, cause it's not even coded in the game... But a little key mapping and I have an Ignition! I also mapped the T1/T2 toggle closest to Flaps Up/Down respectively... Right near my throttle. I also have toe brakes mapped to my T4 and T6 Button, so I can just push down on the toggle and boom, I'm slowing down, or let one up, and I'm turning left or right... (Eventually I'll buy pedals...) Finally, my last toggle I have set to cycle through my weapons... So I have all sorts of important things set to switches right next to the rest of my controls.

the jug (and corsair, pony as well iirc) had a extend/neutral/retract flap lever, not selectable postions. you pull the lever then look at the indicator on the flap itself and put the lever in the neutral position at the required angle. AH's flap controls are actually alot easier to use than the real thing.

I use an X52 and there is a little scroll button on the throttle i have programmed for flaps. It's a notched button so i can scroll out one notch of flaps if i choose or a bunch. Was only able to do this in the SST software outside of game.

I got nothing against pressing the button multiple times as well. But the switch is easier because it can be done in one motion, not 5 (or what ever number of flap settings you have).

This is like, the 6th wish having to do with flaps that I've seen in the last month or two. Flap revolution, anyone?
