So my brother-in-law gets back from two months of training in England. He's Special Forces/Green Beret, great story, etc. Anyway, he was there for the riots, to include some counter-protests. He is telling me the stories then mentions that he has some great pictures of "muppets." My interest is immediately piqued.
I ask him if he said "muppet," to which he clarified that he had in fact said "muppet." Next question, "what do you mean 'muppet'"? His response, apparently in England to call someone a "muppet" is the equivelant of trailer trash, sister kiss'n, inbred-hillbilly and retard all wrapped into one.
So I now ask Grizz et al, what say ye? Are you American style muppets, after Jim Henson fame? Or are you our English style brethren of ill repute? Inquiring minds want to know. :headscratch:
Warmest and with a deep and affectionate love and respect,

It's sort of true. In Britain the term 'muppet' refers to an idiotic or incompetent person (as well as Jim Henson's characters). The term may have been given this meaning by the BBC disk jockey Steve Wright during his afternoon show.
