If the N is a late-war model, I wonder why they never put more power in it like the Brits did with the Spit and the Jerries with their 109?

The first P-40Ns were delivered in March of 1943, making it a mid-war fighter..... Improvement over earlier models was very modest, at best.

Didn't it have a slightly longer fuselage?  If so does anyone know if that's been molded in the game?

Couple questions in looking into this...  approximately 1200 were built with merlins, 4000 w/ allison engines.  There were also variants that carried 6 guns, but had a slower top speed, ceiling, and climb rate.

Which Engine variant will we have?  Will MG loadouts be optional (4 or 6)?

Allison engine.  Intake on top of the engine is the giveaway.  Merlin 40s had no upper intake.

They did ...Allison V-1710-81/99/115 1200hp to 1360hp or so....depends on the batch. The largest batch was P40N-20CU V-1710-99 at 1523 this batch also upped the P40N to 3-500lbs. -25 provided self sealing tanks. 220 P40N-40CU had the V-1710/115

 :salute

THIS IS GREAT NEWS!!!  I   :salute  HTC for adding in the P40N, it does a great job at rounding out the P40 series!  HTC has done well with the Spitfires, 109's, P47's, F4U's, Zeke's, P38's, and not the P40's!!!  Job well done!  Any bets if they allow for both the 4 or 6 gun package (my money is on they offer both)? Also, didnt the N model allow for more ordnance (multiple bombs) to be carried?

I wonder if HTC will change the P40B to the P40C as they hinted they were going to do.  IIRC, the only difference between the 2 was the addition of the undercarriage shackle for the drop tank and ordnance?

Nice job, HTC.   :aok

Now... about the He111, Pe-2, Tu-2, Beaufighter, Ki43 Oscar, and a few other glaring holes in the AH line up ....     ;)

anyone else here go through their childhood spending their allowance and whatever money they could earn buying p-40 models and watching the flying leathernecks every time it came on tv? at $4 to $7 per model plus all the glue, paint, sandpaper, paint brushes, fishing line...i'm pretty sure i had over $200 (1970s value) in just p-40s alone.

can't wait to fly these toon p-40s in the toon skies...  :x

Growing up, my dad's friend, Chuck Doyle, out of Minnesota had a P51d and a P40 with the sharks mouth paint job.  I know my dad lusted after the P51 because, well because it's a P51, but it didn't hold a candle to that beautiful P40 that I coveted.  I was allowed to help clean and wax these works of mechanical art, and I knew it was a priveledge.

The P-40 never enamored me.  I've always thought it was misproportioned and a an unfortunately ugly fighter when compared to the likes of the P-38, P-51, Spitfire and Bf109.

That said, I am glad to see them get fleshed out due to their significance.

One of my friends thinks my taste is very suspect due to the Mossie.  He claims it is not used much in the game because it is so ugly.

His favorites are the P-38, F4U and Bf109.

I'm looking forward to the white tailed skin of the RAAF 75th Ftr Sqdn for the P40E, thats the unit that escorted the real Bud Gray and and down the "Slot".   :D

Hopefully, we'll get a whole host of RAF, RAAF, RNZAF, Soviet, Brazilian, and Free French skins for the P40's.  There should be tons of skins available!

I think it has something to do with how much closer the gun packages are to the aircraft's centerline. Dunno the math tho.
