From another forum.  I didn't know there was an actual flying Sturmovik survivor on the warbird circuit.

Most built plane of WW2, I'm not surprised, despite all the chaos of post war - Cold War Russia.

I had heard that FHC had some wrecks that were being constructed overseas.  Not sure if that is still the case or not.

You'd think that if there were thousands or tens of thousands of a particular aircraft, there would be flyable versions around.  But that often isn't the case.  Even for the B-24, 18,000 produced (more than the B-17) -- one flyable version left in the world (that was a real B-24 at the start of its life).  Typhoon, 3300 produced -- only one aircraft left in the world (nonflyable).  Bf 110, 15,000 produced -- no flyable versions left (as far as I could find in a search).  Flyable versions of things are very rare -- even moreso for something like an Il-2.

I've hit my friend quota for the next five years. I figured I'd come here and see if I could lose some.

Outstanding! Really cool to see one of them flying about!

The Channel 1 clip is too fast for me; I only get every fifth word when I'm lucky.  I'm trying to convince SWMBO to transcribe it for me...not sure how successful that will be.

Very, very cool.  I have pics of the static display in Samara, but to see one fly...
