Title: SLI Question
Post by: Pigslilspaz on October 10, 2011, 06:01:02 PM
So, in my current machine, I have
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130591 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130591)

I wanted to get a second one, but newegg has apparently deactivated it and the prices are far higher everywhere else.

I was wondering, what could I use to SLI with this card? I already have a powersupply and mobo good for it, just not experienced with doing it/ the technicalities.

Pigs here is one that might work with your current card

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130696

Al you would need is a dual sli bridge or 2 single connect them and go from there.

Also if you want a good chart to look at for compatibility check this out.
http://www.itechy.info/nvidia-graphics-card-comparison It lists the Nvidea Cards and gives a good comparison chart to use.

If you need help I can help as much as I can, I currnetly have 2 PNY GTX 470's SLi'd running on triple 23" monitors.

Not in SLI but with two cards it will work as long as all monitors can hit the same resolution. You need two cards to use three monitors.

This is asking an awful lot out of the 460 though.

the ones costing about 250 will run ah at full speed assuming your current system can handle them.  but vc prices normally drop during this time.  I bought my evga 465sc around aug of last year by october they were selling for 100 bucks less.

The next-gen Nvidia GPU (code named Kepler) will launch before the end of the year. Thats on paper at least and it doesnt mean you can get one or even read benchmarks before 2012. I feel fairly confident that the new cards will be at least partially available by March although your favorite manufacturer may not have theirs out by that time.
