Title: King Tiger
Post by: coola4me on October 11, 2011, 08:27:22 AM
Not sure if this is a bug or not. Last night i was in a Tiger II and took a hit to the turrent which of course disabled it (it was smoking). I started my egress and just for giggles switched to smoke and fired. To my surprise i was able to discharge all the remaining (11) smoke rounds. I havent tried this on any of the other tanks that carry smoke so i cant verify if smoke is available after turrent is disabled.

I can't speak for the Tiger II but on some tanks the smoke is actually just a smoke grenade that gets tossed out of the tank (this will be the case if it doesn't go very far when you 'shoot' it).  In this case the turret being destroyed would have nothing to do with smoke.

No bug.  The smoke mortars are not part of the main gun, or co-axial MG, etc.  They are external and lobbed in to the air.  Only the Panzer IV has smoke rounds that can be fired like a normal tank shell.  Notice how the ranges of the smoke grenades from the M4's, Panthers, Tigers, etc have a MUCH shorter range?   :)

Just wasnt sure about it! I fiqured since you can "aim", elevate, and fire the smoke rounds looking through the turrent site, it would be directly affected by turrent damage.

Did the same thing in a Panther a few nights ago and while the smoke fired, you could hear the sound and see the rounds, they did not smoke when they hit.
