Title: Clipboard map graphics update
Post by: oboe on October 13, 2011, 06:33:49 AM
I'm wondering if there is a way to make the graphics on the clipboard map more up-to-date.   The airfield symbols look like relics from an old pre-Windows DOS game.    Might be time for a face-lift here, too?

Sounds like a good idea to me but I can already hear all the angry protests because a lot of folks here are afraid of change. "Change...." Thanks to my beloved country's politics I hate that word now.

While I'm not opposed to change, all you really need is something that shows where a base is. You already have that...it doesn't have to be pretty.

I would like the borders to be trimmed down a little too, so the clipboard obscures less of your surroundings if you leave it open. Oh, and I would like to be able to adjust the gamma of the actual map in the clipboard. If I could make the sea and the terrain features on the map a little darker I could read the base icons better.

My name is Wiley, and I wholeheartedly endorse and support this message.  Moreso the ability to adjust the gamma on the map, though the size of the borders is pretty big for no real good reason.

Ah yes, this is one of the best wishes I've seen in a loooong time.  Improving the clipboard experience would be ideal.  Perhaps even a working E6B?   ;) Seriously though, having a bit more sharper graphics would be nice.   :)

Did you know you can resize the clipboard, and also move its location on the screen?   That might help a little if you want to leave it up and fly.

Yes, I do know this. I like to leave my clipboard open and that is why I made the wish. I currently have it as small as it can get while still being able to read the base icons in the bottom left of my screen, if borders were trimmed down it would take even less space (or I could make it a little bigger and have more detail).

If you think about it, it is a 'clipboard' after all. The borders have never bothered me,
but yes, I do think that a clipboard overhaul would be nice.

I think the clipboard is still one of the original AH1 models.

 :rofl

I also leave the clipboard open when flying. I forget which way I'm going often. But, as needed, I push a single button and, voila, it closes and becomes much less obtrusive.

Push the button again, and it's back!!

Actually, now that I think of it, how about the clipboard while in a 17 pounder?
Again, I can never figure out where I am or which direction I should be looking.
