B-25C "The Brooklyn Dodger" 71st BS 38th BG. This plane was flown on several occasions by Lt. James W. Shurig, the Grandfather of our fellow player Changeup. Wow! :rock :salute

Thank you cactus. I am printing it and a copy of the cockpit and overnighting it to Gramps. He thinks the game sounds as fun as it was in RL
Thank you from Gramps Shurig and my entire family

OMG...what a beautiful :aok

Beautiful work Cactus, I'll be giving that one a spin when it's in game and that is coming from a Giants fan who generally loathes anything with the word "Dodger" in it. :)

Has your Grandfather any photo's of the H model?
This unit I think only had two of these model's.

Not the curse of Lawrence Hickey! Ugh, the book will never get done!
Looks like the 38th BG Association guys are going through the same BS the 43rd BG guys have gone through with Hickey. Pass on money, info and photos and never see any return. I was a squaddie with a guy in Airwarrior who's grandfather was CO of the 63rd BS, 43rd BG in WW2. I did some digging for him on grandpa. This was back in 96-97 and Hickey was just about finished with their group history. It's still not done. Guys from the group went overboard with photos, info etc and most of them have since passed away.
Sad part is you'll see Hickey posting on other forums looking for info from people for his 'latest' book and they bite there too.
To his credit if he gets a book done it's good, but to promise folks stuff and still not be done 15 years later is a crime against those vets and families.

Here's one Grandpa flew. Scoto Kid

Scary to think what Grandpa was doing for real. The 71st in action. Clearly the cartoon 25Cs need to fly again soon. I know some closet 25C strafer junkies <cough>, corky, cactus, soulyss<cough>
Interesting to see we've got a number of guys in this game related to 25 drivers.

Ahh there's Scoto Kid. Looked a bit for a photo of that plane but couldn't find one. Lemme guess, Flying Buccaneers? I never seem to remember to look through that book.
And yes, the cartoon 25s need to rise again. I still remember holding cap over a base in 25Cs during one of our missions. Of course we lost half our force to the trees on the way there.

Yep Flying Buccaneers :) I knew I'd seen it. Thought I remembered Lobo too but I was thinking of El Diablo :)

Cactus,
I wanted to let you know that your skin of the Brooklyn Dodger was shown at Gramps funeral along with his island hopping assignments. It was very, very cool. He would have really loved it. It turns out my cousin's wife found this thread and printed it along with the pictures I posted and put that in a presentation that was shown along with his travels during the war.
Thank you again.
