Title: New Patch (2.26) = Video Issues
Post by: Slade on October 14, 2011, 01:37:31 PM
Hello,

I have never had any video issues with any AH patch to date.

This last one I am experiencing:

Game is also crashing one out of 4 times playing it.

I am running Windows XP Sp3.  I have the latest drivers for my card: NVIDA GeForce 9500 GT

Thanks,

Slade  :salute

That card is over 3 years old. Your computer might be on the edge as far as being able to keep up with the eye candy.

Post a dxdiag just the top third up to and including <sound device's.> let's see what you have.

You do not want to run the latest drivers for that video card.  Also note, that video card is pretty low end, so it willbe easily overwhelmed at times.  Your "Maximum Texture Size" in the "Video Settings" should not be over 512.

Got it working!

All your suggestions were fruitful in pointing me in the right direction.  dxdiag showed that my driver was WAY out of date.  I downloaded the latest driver, set Texture Size to 512 and that did the trick.

Thanks guys!  :aok

They only reason I still have a Windows system is this game.  I use LINUX for everything else.  Ubuntu is an INCREDIBLY high performing OS for work stations.  CentOS does the trick on servers (Redhat rebranded basically).  If AH ever put out a LINUX version I'd be 100% off M$ Windows.  Ubuntu also embraces a philosophy in software and the like.  If you have never loaded\tried Ubuntu you owe it to yourself to see the performance difference compared to any Windows OS.  Staggering.  :old:

Thanks again,
