Title: VOX Down - Server Side

VOX isn't working for me or any of my fellow squadies on Knights, LWMA.

The server has no clue about countries, everyone is the same, as far as the server is concerned, and everyone goes through the same VOX server.  Just FYI.

What that means is if the VOX server goes down,it goes down for everyone.  If one person is able to use VOX, then the server is working.

I'll take a look at the server when I get in.

I'd have to beg to differ there.  I know if the entire server went down then everyone would lose vox but I've seen it happen on so many occasions where many people would lose vox at once but many more would still be just fine.

Last Thursday was an example of that.  Right after this latest patch was released and on and off all night we were all having to relog due to losing vox.  I had a few squaddies that had been on all night problem free but about 80% of my squad had to relog at least once to correct things.

Personally I had to relog three times that night due to dropping vox!

A few of us claimed that .reset v fixed their vox issues but that didn't work for me.

The VOX server has the ability to restart itself when it detects a problem.  This causes a loss of VOX for most, but not neccessarily all players, depending on the state of the local client when it happens.

The point was 1) the VOX server has no idea what a "country" is., 2) if the VOX server dies and does not come back, then everyone loses VOX, and 3) loss of VOX is not neccessarily the server, as VOX is all done via UDP, all one has to do is lose a few packets to lose VOX.  Anyone on a wireless connection will suffer more VOX issues than a land line will, but land lines are also subject to packet loss.

Gotcha that makes sense.  Just seemed funny how dozens of people could all lose it at the same time.  I suppose it was the Vox server "restarting" and those who were not using vox during that time probably weren't affected.
