Title: Bf-109G-6 film wanted
Post by: mthrockmor on October 20, 2011, 08:17:58 AM
I am learning the ripes in the G6 and would love some cheat sheets, so to speak. does anyone have film of G6s in fights they would care to post? Happy to see both fights won or lost. I don't a great deal of time in the 109 and need to learn much, rapidly.

Thanks in advance!

Boo

PS If possible I would prefer in AH film viewer so I can change views, etc.

I've a healthy amount of G6 AHFilms, but I fly my the seat of my pants, I'm not sure there's much to learn from them.

Think you might want to pester a KN or Muppet.  ;)

Here's a film of some fighting in a 109F, but I fly all my 109s the same so we'll just say I'm in a G6 in this film  ;)

All 109's, just like the Spit14, 16, and P-51, can do everything well. Unlike the spitfires though, it just takes some skills to get it to do what you want. A 109 is not an especially great Turn fighter (but it's not terrible either), so avoid flat turn fights with better turners like spits and zekes. You can beat these planes in a turn fight though by using the 109s great climb ability. If you have to turn fight, use high and low yo-yo as much as you can, and remember to use your rudder, it will help you get an angle.

The most important thing, of course this goes for every plane in every fight, is to not over shoot your target. He can't shoot you if you're on his tail the whole time  :aok
And remember that if you start the fight, then see it through to the end. The worst thing you can do is try and get out of a fight you started (Why? Because if you started the fight, you must have at least one advantage. Don't let your opponent take that advantage away.)

IMO. G6 is useless, when I can fly either a g2 or f4 model which both are better dogfighters and are equally as fast

My .02 cents
