Title: A bunny murderer is born
Post by: Vulcan on October 20, 2011, 10:21:52 PM
After rogwar's thread on his daughter at the range it reminded me I had to take my boy (6 years old) out was well. Plus I wanted to check my 243 was shooting right before a hunt next weekend.

I let him rip on the 22 @ a big target 50m away (thats 55 yards for lot in the english colonies stuck in imperial measurements) - basically telling him to ping away at an A4 size area which he did happily. This was fairly much the first time he'd been 'shooting'. Then the guy next to us offered to let him have a blast at his 'gongs' (swinging metal targets). Well bugger me he hit one on his first shot! And 2nd! and 3rd! It blew me away as he was struggling to get comfortable as the tables were too tall for him.

I also let him have a blast on the 243, he smacked himself in the nose (not too hard) which was funny (he thought so too) and was a good 'lesson' for him in the difference between a 22 and 243 etc.

At the range on the 22, the gongs are between the big paper targets on the ground, in the inset on the table you can just see them.

No tags, if it's on public land (i.e. regional or national parks) then it's fair game. If it's on private land you just need the farmers permission.
