"One unusual store carried by the Corsair was an ice-cream factory. Late in the war one squadron in the Palaus found the action slow, and to stave off boredom the ground crews rigged 19-liter (5 US gallon) cans with a wind-driven spinner connected to a mixing rotor, and hooked up one under each wing of an F4U. A pilot would take the aircraft up to high altitude for a given period of time and then come back to base with the ice cream. " :aok

Late in the war one squadron in the Palaus found the action slow, and to stave off boredom the ground crews rigged 19-liter (5 US gallon) cans ...
Bored military guys find some of the strangest things to occupy themselves. I'm generally not that big on feelgood stories, but I find stories like this oddly uplifting for some reason. Maybe it's the simplicity of the things they do and did. Maybe it's the contemplation of the thought process it took to go from 'we fly airplanes in war' to 'let's rig up something on the plane to make ice cream'.
In any case, it made me chuckle, and I'd definitely want one on my plane. I fly high enough, I would probably qualify to make it.

Because back in the day gas stations in the pacific theatre of operations probably didn't carry tubs of ice cream.

Falling chocolate ice cream?.... :noid

We already have this in game. Up a 38 and if you get to land your sortie you type ".frozenlibation" into text bar and you get a margarita in the O' Club. Only caveat is that you have to take type ".load 4" in the hanger to enable the rigged drop tank.
You can thank SAPP. :salute

Should I be insulted that two guys thought I was dumb enough to not be sarcastic? :lol lol, it's like the toast joke. I guess I could just count that up as two successful trollings. :neener:

Didn't the Brits droped barrals of beer on the front line?

That's nothing. Those 38 peelits are blending margaritas
