Title: Gun Sight view/control for fighter and bomber Question
Post by: Peyton on October 22, 2011, 11:56:46 AM
1) I guess the updates killed the "Lock mouse cursor" on gunsight so can someone tell me how they "lock" their gunsight or what view do you use in order to get good shots or views? Do you fly with the gun sight filling your screen? Do you fly with the gunsight offset? Any advice would be great.
I used to lock the mouse cursor on the gunsight and could fly moving head left or right but still know where to shoot.

2) When I am in a bomber, I switch to guns and the plane moves when I rotate the guns.  I have tried "x" but that does not work.  I know it is a cause of the rudder. I use a Logitech EXTREME 3d Pro.  I remember that when I used to switch to guns it would auto lock and even if you had rudder, pitch or yaw input by twisting your stick the plane would not move until you switched back to cockpit view.

I cannot solve this so does anyone know how?

Thanks

sounds like you switch to gv/ship gun mode when you jump in a gun position. do you have mode1 set to default aircraft setup and mode2 mapped out for gvs/ship guns?

Peyton,

when you press "X" does auto pilot kick off even if you dont touch the stick?

If this is the case try increasing deadpan on the rudder axis, watch the number readout in map controls and make sure they dont change. You may have to enable scaling and adjust the sliders if the deadpan doesnt stop the numbers from changing.

This is usually caused by spiking in the joystick, the unwanted inputs cause auto pilot to kick off, just like if you pulled on the stick.

as for your gunsight question,I setup the default or home view as my gunsight view and adjust it as needed. If you need to you can zoom from here and adjust that as well. Maybe changing to another type of gunsight might help you out, that can be done in preferences, gunsights.  Many players have made all sorts of gunsights, find 1 thats not too cluttered up and practice, practice, practice!

    :salute

 PS: did I mention practice?

I've always used rudder to steer the plane while in the gunners positions.  I don't think anything has changed with that?
