Just chasing a 190 in the MA that was jerking his stick flipping and flopping erratically all over the place... it used to be you couldn't get away with that or your stick would freeze up.
What happened?

If you calibrate your stick properly that should not happen.
-
Try stick stirring and see if your controls lock up.

:huh I was always told that would make you go blind...

Some people are good at stick-stirring...
Some people are good at hard but smooth maneuvering...
The game's smoothing code tries to predict where an object is going so it can draw it in the new position faster to keep the movement smooth. If someone goes some other direction, the smoothing code has to recalculate and redraw the object; sometimes making it look like the guy is doing some impossible moves.
(at least that's my understanding)

I get that message a lot :D

Nothing has changed it works just as it always has.

I've been thinking the same thing as the OP with all the erratic stick stirrin' I've seen lately. Perhaps a small tweak in the direction of realism? Meaning, tighten it up a bit more? :aok

Lag enhances stick stirring.
-
who needs to stick stir? throttle down, hard rudder, flaps, and then squeeze the trigger when the plane overshoots
-
OK, so it's still the same. I just couldn't believe this guys controls wouldn't lock up the way he was moving. Maybe it was some lag too. I was stuck on his six @ 400yds for 3-4 minutes and could never get a bead on him, and didn't wanna spray and pray with limited ammo in a Yak.
Then the CV ack vaporized me :cry

Saggs has just made my point for asking about the ammo load out for the yak 3, or for the Meteor for that matter. As I remember it Yaks in this game dispense of their cannons rather rapidly.
In the MA, Late War at least, I can tell you what planes I am most likely to face. With the exception of the dedicated P38 and Jug enthusiasts, and a sprinkling of Zeke and Brewster base defenders, it will be the fastest available planes, meant to chase every depleted E fighter down. These planes include the La7, P51D, Bf109K4, and Spit16. The latter not being so much faster but able to maintain E longer and therefore same effect.
To combat these uber fast rides on my six usually (more than one), I was told to keep the plane of your wings outside of the plane of their wings, to reduce the area in which their rounds would trace your aircraft (especially for wing mounted guns on your attackers plane). Imadot, explains why such rolling and reverse roll maneuvers may show irradic movements on the front end of the pursuer. I had wondered why the smoke from Rolex and FLS during their demonstration in the training arena, showed sharp angled maneuvers instead of smooth control movement that I would expect from listening to the lecture on just that. Also, I chaulked it up to the film viewer limitations.
I have spent hours upon hours to get the smooth stick movements (trying to defeat nose bounce -- lost cause) especially in WWI aircraft. So :joystick: shouldn't trump :airplane: in my opinion :ahand

Why not just remove the ailerons from the 190 series and make us fly with rudder alone? And while you're at it, add some more weight to the A8.

Naaa weight was added to the 38g (600) to give the 190 a fighting chance.
