I looked into them. Not very easy to care for.

Do *NOT* make the mistake of getting these. I've dealt with them before and they really are no different than having a mouse with wings. If you like having mice in a cage as pets then you may enjoy them but if you want something you can interact with then forget it. They don't ever come close to being on the same level as even a small bird let alone something like a dog or a cat.
They are difficult to take care of and require a strict diet. They will be contained in a cage which will require regular cleaning and maintenance. They are loud.. VERY LOUD. Especially at night when they are most active.
If you have the time to give them a *LOT* of time and attention then you can train them to come out and play every once in a while but 99% of the time they will want to stay in their little hanging blanket and will provide almost no entertainment or companionship to you.
Yes they are cute. Yes they can (kind of) glide. This does not mean that you'll enjoy having one as a pet.

probably has something to do with what age you get one and the amount of interaction you give it. doesn't look much worse than a ferret for raising and caring...

Myself and daughter wanted a pair. I researched them fairly extensive and decided it was not for us and we have been adventurous pet owners.

That goes against almost everything I have expierenced. My friend has a pair and I hang with him and his glider all the time.
They do get a little loud but nothing I cant sleep through.
