So...
I just bought BF3 for the PC, Turns out that my PC doesn't have the specs to run it even on minimum detail.
Looking for any advice from all you techy guys for a new computer. Preferably I'd like a Dell computer.
Thanks in advance,
Warthog
EDIT: Sorry if this is in the wrong forum. Wasn't sure if I should have posted it in Hardware/Software.

you want a gaming computer? dell ain't it...their most expensive gaming system might do what you want if you choose the right video card for it.

Well, I don't want something to over the top, Just something that gets the job done. Having a lot of eye-candy would be nice, but I don't want to spend $1,500 for a computer.

get the parts piece by piece and build it yourself...it is really not that difficult.
screw Dell...they are gonna put the absolute minimum needed and not necessarily the better components.
you need windows 7
a good quad core CPU...I would guess at least a 3.0 GHZ but the higher the better
at least 4 gigs of ram
a good GC that is 1 gig....
a good PSU this may be one of the most important components at least a 600 watt....but you can not go overboard here.
a MB that can handle all that..which will not be hard to find.....
newegg or tigerdirect I have found some good deals.....you can get a MB and CPU combo then a GC and Memory combo..or how ever they are selling them....
I picked up all new internals components for my system I paid less then $400 that was a couple years ago....I have a feeling you can do even better now a days.
ether way Good luck :salute

I was thinking about building a computer from scratch, I've seen a few Youtube videos on how to build one.
I think it would be cheaper in the long one to build one from scratch. The computer I'm using now is about 5 years old. So I think it's time for a new one.
Anyways, Thanks for your reply's everyone.

not only cheaper but you KNOW what is inside....I built mine and I just read as much as I could on how to do it.....I think it took about 3-4 hours....and not one issue...I have since built my wife a system....
something else you want to think about Intel or AMD....my system is AMD...the wifes is Intel not sure which one I actually like better.....
AMD is cheaper...but that is not always the best...
I know there are a lot of guys in here that are far more knowledgeable then me that can steer you in the right direction for the components themselves.
what is your budget? do you have anything that can be reused?
500-700$ will definitely get ya a nice system that works.

Phatzo is right. Talk to TD. Tell him your budget and let him build you something. Treat him right and that man will make you such a screaming A@@'d comp you'll be amazed. Not only that but he'll support the heck out of it after the sale.
I don't disagree with Ink in that you can learn to build your own but TD is not only a fantastic dude that builds sweet rigs but, when you turn it on, you don't have to worry about it being screwed up because you missed something.
If you're inclined to build your own and feel confident that you can then rock on. If you're like me and could screw up a steel ball talk to TD.

if I had the cake he would be the guy to build mine...he does awesome systems :salute

In the future I will. I'm still figuring out these German birds.

Check out these guys they built my rig, great customer service and computers that you can pick the parts you want in it for a good price. http://www.digitalstormonline.com/

Building a computer is like reading Lego directions, except just very expensive. Only one part goes in one place a certain way. Where it differs from legos is that, if you put it in the wrong place, you've probably broken something. :)

I built my current rig myself after years of doing what I could to soup up my old P4 rig. I'm a tradesman and I gotta tell ya there's nothing else on the face of the planet that's as standardized as the parts for a PC. I need a part for just about anything else I might have to deal with and more often than not I have to have that exact item or my unit's dead. In a PC the interface of the cards and memory makes it a snap. I was really surprised at how easy it was and I'm really happy with the finished product. I'll never buy another PC from anyone ever again. Seriously it was that easy. Just do your homework and plan what you're gonna buy before you buy it. Google is your friend. I've found Newegg to be a great resource too--read the reviews. Go to manufacturer's forums and see what other owners are saying about their stuff. Might be good, might be bad but knowledge is power.
You can do it and you'll be happier having had total control over the components that went into your machine. The best part---it's tons cheaper doing it yourself.

Plz do not buy a brand computer.
From 750 bucks you can build one that runs every existing game maxed out. Just dont be lazy to ask an experienced one to help you.

if you can build your own i would do so hands down, Ive built 9 so far for me and my friends, it's kinda like a tattoo once you've done it you always want another one even better than the last one.

I looked at all the store computers and was badly dissapointed for the prices.
Instead, I had a computer built for me. All for $600 US delivered. The same tower would have cost me $1,500 - $1,800 US .
It also gave me an option to upgrade to 6 GB RAM by simply snapping it in. In 4 years I have had no problems because I ad it bult for the future. My FR is a solid 60 in-game and I have over 30 large programs on it.
