As of the 2011 season, the Cardinals have played in 17 World Series. They have won 10 Series and lost 7. If they win the 2011 World Series, they will have played in 18 and won 11.

The yankees have them beat by quite a few

The Texas Rangers have played in two World Series: 2010 and 2011. The 2010 World Series was the first for the Texas Rangers franchise.

Above from wiki

However it end it's been a great series.

What is with all the broken bats this year ?

The grain of the maple bats isn't as tight as that of the ash bats.

Hence, more breakage.

Here is a quote from Louisville Slugger's website in a Q&A section regarding the emerald ash borer.

"At this point there has been no impact on the bat industry or MLB.  The insect has not reached the area along the Pennsylvania/New York border where Louisville Slugger harvests trees to make baseball bats.  However, there is reason for serious concern.  The EAB was discovered in western Pennsylvania in the summer of 2007.  At the current rate of progression, the insect very well could impact the forests where timber for bats comes from within a few years, if not sooner.

Louisville Slugger’s timber division is working closely with the USDA and the state department of agriculture in Pennsylvania and other states to monitor the situation as these government agencies try to stop the emerald ash borers spread."

The maple bats are going to kill or permantly injure someone. I forget who it was but a guy already had a lung punctured by one.

We've had this discussion.    They can say what they want.    Maple is more expensive than Ash.     :aok

Are you thinking of Steve Yeager Dodgers catcher that took bat shrapnel to the throat ?

Cubs outfielder Tyler Colvin was impaled as he ran home from third base.

Are you suggesting that Louisville Slugger is trying to sell an inferior product at an inflated price? Even after admitting that there is plenty of ash to go around at the moment?

My guess is some toolbox like Rudy Jaramillo decided to tell sluggers that they could hit more homers with a maple bat. The stupid jocks bought into the hype and here we are now.

The Cardinals weren't supposed to make the playoffs, they rallied from 10.5 down on August 25 to win the Wild Card

The Cardinals were supposed to be swept by Philadelphia, they won it in 5.

The Cardinals were supposed to lose to Milwaukee, they took it in 6.

The Cardinals were supposed to drop the Series in 5-6 games, they won it all in 7.

Nowhere did the national media truly give the Cardinals their due. Right up to the end they were being counted out. There's no better way to shut them up.

1926 - 1931 - 1934 - 1942 - 1944 - 1946 - 1964 - 1967 - 1982 - 2006 - 2011

You know it's kind of an odd feeling

On one hand I really wanted the Rangers to win.

On the other hand knowing that my ex wife is currently seriously considering jumping off of a bridge makes me smile.

Nicely done redbirds..

If the Phillies had not played hard the last 3 games of the year, it never would have happened for the Cards. Big salute to them and their manager.  :salute

Game 6 was probably the best Series game ever!

One more thing..... suck it Nyger Morgan and the Brewers!  :t :rock
