Title: JU 87 G model
Post by: ONTOS on November 02, 2011, 02:23:13 PM
How about changing our present JU 87 D to the JU 87 G, adding the gondalas. OR at least adding the new plane..

You wouldn't change it... That would remove a function and useful plane from the early war setup. Scenarios of many types have used the Ju-87.

Now, "adding" a new one is a much better idea. No reason to remove the old one!

I agree. A JU 87 G as well as the D model. That was my thinking all along. Just wanted to see the reactions.

I'd kill for the BK 37's to be added... :noid

It's no secret that the Stuka presently in use  in the LW arena is mainly a hanger queen.
It's also no secret that few missions generate as much excitement in the arena than
a Stuka raid.
Introducing the 37mm cannon variant would be an outstanding move on HTC's part
and to be honest, I've no clue why they seemingly ignore what I see on a constant
basis in the arena; numerous pleas on its inclusion in the plane set.
It's a win-win for everyone involved. Except of course, the GV guys, who are gonna
get bombed anyway, regardless.
The jabo/bomber pilots will get a wonderfully fun plane to fly, and the fighter pilots
will have a blast tearing into 'em and getting some easy kills.
Of course, the F3 view would require neutering, but who cares? :)

Regards, Odd

I agree with you Odd, the Ju-87-D3 and adding the Ju87-D5 w/ the G2 package in the Hanger. The D5 had 2 20mm and could also carry bombs so it could also be used as a jabo/fighter.
In affect you would get 3 Ju-87 models Bomber/Attack-Jabo/Fighter.

And yes nix the F3 mode in the MA completely  :aok

Go fly the Hurricane IID and then tell me if you really want the Stuka G.  It would be one the same.  Seriously.  The only difference would be the Hurricane IID would fly faster, climb better, and the Hurricane IID would not have a rear gunner.

If the 87G was added, it would have the highest penetration value of all anti tank weapons carried by planes. Granted, the IL-2 can pop just about any tank, but the 87G would be a nice alternative for those looking to trade speed and manueverablity for extra firepower and a better cockpit view (if F3 is removed).

It would also give the Germans something to use in scenarios like Kursk or the Eastern Front.

Massive Stuka raids are a blast to put together, even though they usually get slaughtered. Just grab your favorite beverage & have fun!

Adding a 37mm weapon package would be the simplest way to get the Ju-87G-1 as it would not require creating a new aircraft model as the G-1 was based on the D-3 airframe.  It would take less resources and time than it took to add the P-47M.

True, but I doubt anything will be added to the old Stuka without a complete aircraft update.

Except the BK-37 was closer to the NS-37 than the Vickers S Gun in terms of preformance. Imagine an Il-2 that had its flight characteristics mixed with those of a Hurricane IID.

There is a Stuka model (I forget which) that was used in huge numbers, had mg 151/20's, and the EXACT same airframe as the one we currently have ingame!  :O
Any reason why we dont have em yet?  or any cannon for the Ju88 for that matter?  when all the Allied medium bombers have the biggest gunpacks in history!  :huh
B25H, B25C strafer package, A20

It sure would be fun to have a tank busting Stuka variant.   :aok
