It is early September 1943 and the fire of the Pacific war is raging.  In a bold move, the Japanese have landed an invasion force on the American-held island of Nauru.
At great cost, they have seized 70% of the island.  Only the center of the island remains in American hands.  The runway at Hawkins Field(A5) is still being operated, though shelled frequently, and the Marine outpost known as Camp Apache (V4) is trying to shore up the western & southern flanks.  The Japanese are preparing for the final push to overrun the American bases & claim the entire island for the Empire.

A coded message ha been received by the brass at Hawkins.  Help is on the way.  Pearl is sending two carrier task groups, code named Granite & Hammer, to save the besieged defenders before it is to late!  The Navy must move quickly.  Intelligence has reported that Japanese spotters have located the inbound vessels and reported their heading & probable destination.  The Japanese have sent their own fleets to intercept and destroy the Naval rescue mission and help finish of the defenders of Nauru if necessary.  Last known position was 2 days behind the American fleet's estimated arrival.

Allied Orders:

1. Defend Hawkins field(A5) and Camp Apache(V4) at all costs.  Hold out until help arrives.
2. Naval forces must establish a beachhead (capture a coastal base).
3. Battle inland, seizing ground until you have an uninterrupted linkup with Hawkins field for a minimum of 48 hrs. to get wounded out and supplies in.
4. Fend off the Japanese interceptor fleets before they can destroy the precious beachhead.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Axis Orders:

1. Attack and seize Hawkins Field(A5) and Camp Apache(V4), seizing control of Nauru Island.
2. Defend against enemy Naval invasion operations.
3. Keep the encircled American bases isolated from any help they could receive from the American Navy.
4. Once Japanese Naval forces arrive on scene, seek out and destroy the enemy amphibious & naval forces.

Setup information:
This is a totally fictional setup taking place in mid-'43.  It is not meant to mimic any actual battles that took places.  All names & places are just part of the story.  Enjoy folks! :salute

Terrain: Guadalc
Killshooter: Off
Friendly & enemy icons: 3k
Below radar: 200ft.

Notes:  V4 is incorrectly named A4 on the clipboard map.  It is a V-base.
B-25Cs are also enabled for the Americans.  Missed it when making the planeset picture.

I know I haven't flown here for a while, but I wanted to say:

That's a pretty cool setup! Kudos for the ideas/planning!

A couple things spring to mind: What about using the earliest panzer with the weakest gun as a Japanese tank sub? We have a couple newer models if you recall? Maybe P-40N instead of P-40F. Maybe A6M3 instead of A6M5 (or just have both because the Japanese side is lacking)? Just spitballing some ideas, take them or leave them.

If my throttle quadrant wasn't missing 2 out of 6 levers, I think I'd try this one out! Please post screenshots and whatnot, everyone

Good call Krusty.  I have changed the Japanese armor from an M8 to a short-barreled Panzer.  I had honestly forgotten about it.  I beat ya to it with the Zekes.  A6M5b is operational on the island, but A6M3 is operating from the Japanese carriers when they arrive.  The A6M5b had just came out a month prior, so I feel a mix is a better idea. :salute

Allies hit the beach!

The invasion began with American 8 & 5 inch gun batteries opening up on the Japanese defenses.

(http://img828.imageshack.us/img828/5170/bch1.jpg) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/828/bch1.jpg/)

Still, the Japanese stood their ground!

(http://img196.imageshack.us/img196/6609/bch2.jpg) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/196/bch2.jpg/)

It was time to send in the Marines!

(http://img836.imageshack.us/img836/1085/bch3.jpg) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/836/bch3.jpg/)

They ran headlong into murderous enemy fire.

(http://img233.imageshack.us/img233/7026/bch4.jpg) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/233/bch4.jpg/)

Through tremendous losses and pure determination, the Marines push ashore!  With barely a toehold on the island and the beachhead still in doubt, the Americans
push ever closer to seizing their first vital coastal base.  At this very moment, the battle for the beach rages.

Join the invasion today!!
