When it's released (nudge, nudge, wink, wink) it will have a 3D wireframe mode for placing the camera without having to start at an object and hold down the movement keys for 10 minutes to set up a shot...and if the shot doesn't quite look right, not having to start all over again and hope you get it right.
It will have the ability to program multiple camera keyframe positions within a single shot for more smooth continuous cinematic shots.
It will have a volume control for vox and one for game sounds.
It will have other cool stuff I can't think of right now. :D
There are some fantastic movies being made right now, but there could be many more if the film viewer was easier to use and had more features.
Yes, I'm in the middle of making another movie...funny how you don't think about a thing until you start using a thing. :neener:

Would implementing the CM Eye mode help with that?

a hint!!!

:x
Oh my...

I have always wanted a view option for following released ordinance in the film viewer. torp cam, bomb cam, rocket cam; might even be entertaining to have a drunk cam following the AI troops during a hotly contested town grab.

Why was the recorded views for enemy cons removed? I liked those. It helped me keep track of myself when in their aeroplane to see what I was doing from their point of view. :headscratch: :frown:

Because it wasn't their head movements you were seeing, it was yours. Just from their plane.

YES! CM Eye mode would be a great leap forward.
Also, to prevent having to switch in and out of full screen, provide us menus that auto hide on the sides or top/bottom.
Perhaps key strokes that enable/disable camera views. For example, we could hit <control + 1> to have camera follow behind plane, type in dot commands on the fly to set distance. Then I could hit <control + 2> that would allow the camera to simply track a target from its current position without moving the camera's location, then I could hit <control + 3> that would allow the camera to no longer move or track a target. Provide us keys to switch targets on the fly, such as the tab key.
I haven't used the film viewer in years, so forgive me if I'm asking for ideas already implemented.

THIS
Full screen's lack of controls seriously hurts when I need to record footage or even just take screenshots.
P.S. I'd also love some playback hotkeys, for "forward" "pause" and "reverse" to help set up different camera angles and play the same segments over again without needing to press "play"
It would also help if "speed+" and "speed-" were options.

Ok. Then I wish for saving their head movements, as well as their guage indicators, sounds, etc.. and an option for including high G blackouts and pw blackouts when viewing from their perspective.
:)

You can't save that. You don't have that info. It's never sent to you. That's a LOT of info to be sending and update nonstop. You only get position and speed, damage, etc. The stuff you want is all client-end only, and your client only does your own stuff.
So it's just not remotely possible to have that in the film viewer. That's why you get with the person in question and trade films if you want to see their perspective.

All of that would require your front-end to record everything on their front-end; how's the server supposed to know which player's data you want to record? So, everybody's front-end will have to transmit all inputs to everyone else's front-end on the off chance that somebody is recording film...and might want to view things from another pilot's point of view.
Lag is bad now...just think about how exponentially bad it would get. Be glad you can even put yourself where your front-end thinks their plane is when viewing a film. At least you can see where your plane is in realation to theirs.

Id like to see an icon for my plane when outside of it.

cc, that. I understand now. Thank you. :salute

THIS!
Maybe make it a second checkbox: "Self Icon?"

That would be nice. I use padlock to watch the other aircraft in films and it would be great to padlock my aircraft from the bandit. I'd be happy to padlock aircraft in films with no icons too.
-
I'd like to be able to change the friendly icons to plane type.
I'd like the radio recordings to stay in sync with what's happening when making film shots.
I'd like the carriers to be where they actually are.
That's all I can think of right now.

I would really like if the artificial horizon worked in the film veiwer, it's kinda embarassing sending a video to youtube from your cockpit view and a static artificial horizon

Tracking the enemy aircraft, from the view of my plane.
exactly as in IL2.
with the ability to change the targets
:pray

Makes it look like we're being towed, like in the movies.
