...A tombstone, underneath the brickwork of my fireplace.
It's a very old house, but that seems like an odd choice of building material.
-
It may be required to stay there.
An old employer of mine built a building on an old grave yard. They were required to keep one tombstone present on site by law/church/respect. I assume all the graves were moved to another site.
Maybe the tombstone was never used to mark a grave. It could have been a demo. May have to do a little research.

I've been married and divorced twice. You think a soul stealing, blood sucking, creature from hell is really going to scare me now? I just call them exes and thank them for not giving me something I couldn't throw back ;)

MK84, you need to check in hourly. If you turn up miss'n we will know what got ya. Kind of freaky, have you thought of digging deeper? Just view it as science, Indiana Jones style. If you need some help...

Well, it appears its being used to insulate the rest of the house from the fireplaces? I've heard of being thrifty...but damn...

Telling you, call the state historic Society about it.

who knows, Maybe 2 robbers got stuck in the chimneys and died at some point in that house's lifespan, And ppl put gravestones there to,well, Mark their "Graves"
-
Well, I can not read them well, One of them has the writing covered in brick (which I really do not want to remove) and the other, which I can see is obstructed by the building framework. My guess is that maybe a "defect" gravestone was available for sale, and thus used? (House is Circa 1900)
