Wow... 90s graphics

You'd be surprised how intensive the game is to run.  Oh wait...  That is becuase it has the worst coding in a game ever and was made in Java.  Carry on.

Wow... 90s graphics

That was my first impression of the game as well, I will not pretend it has advanced graphics.  However, it has been one of the most addicting games I've ever played.

I use texture packs every now and then, but I have over 5 mods installed that have different blocks and most packs hide them so I stay with the default pack most of the time

edit: I only use HD texture packs, my lap top is a gaming lap top so it can handle intense graphics

It looks like a software rendering voxel graphics engine. There was a port of the old Wolfenstein game to use a software voxel engine too while back.

As a tip to Alayna, There ARE commands like /teleport bed, called /home. :P
Course I have a lot of commands that aren't in a vanilla server (although home should be) due to Airflyer and I renting an open Server. Lot are for fun, some for administration to help with/keep in line new users who pop in.

I use Default for in-game due to Java being terrible and eating through memory like a fat kid in a chocolate factory.
Some of our Server (http://omegamcserver.webs.com/index.htm) (not posting much, the world folder exceeds 140Mb as a warning), some were taken in the Map viewer, some game:

Man that puts me to shame, I'm trying to get redstone to work for me, but I don't see a practical use as of now, i need idea's. As for my server, its a quick one, like just to make within 5 mins, although it took a day for me to get onto it once it was working  :furious ,

Anyway this is what it looks like with one of my hd packs

Some people do some craazy things with redstone circuits, I am no where near that level.  I don't use it a lot, but this is actually a pretty simple layout.

Right side of the pictures is the opposite wall of the "controls" and the left is opposite wall of the water.

Just noticed the Harvester, Jay, Nice. Certainly getting a lot of wheat out of that one I'd imagine! Would have been nice to have build on so big but I was limited on space when I made one, had to live with:

And just to show off something a user built a while back :P (had to open chat for some stupid reason to get EVGA Precision to take the picture):

My main problem with redstone is the space it takes up, I built a house that was nearly indestructible, it was made of obsidion and had diamond block doors that came down with a lever to cover the windows and doors and another lever made a fence pop out of the ground and surround the whole area, the house also had electric lights :D It was quite big though, and doing maintenance was a pain in the rear cause it was so complex or wasn't so much space, I had to follow paths until I found out what they went to

I know what you mean, I don't use them too much.  That bookshelf in my bedroom slides back and reveals a hidden room though.  :D

How did you do your electric lights?

Just got the game. How are you folks doing all of that? Are you doing creative, or Survival? I'm playing on Survival and have no idea how I could pull that off...

All of mine are on survival.  The mobs can be quite a hassle when you first start out.  Eventually they become rather trivial, really more annoying than anything.

I have a couple friends who've been playing for the past few weeks and after listening to them go on and on about it I broke down and bought it on Friday.

That is one fun, addictive little game.  I can't believe how many hours I sunk into it this weekend.  :lol

Haven't come across a village yet. Got ambushed by creepers right outside my house. Saw one, went to attack it, and 2 more came from around the corner. Now to fill in a giant crater in my front yard...

Same thing happened to me yesterday, opened the door after the sun came up took about two steps and BLAMO!
 :lol

Install some torches around the yard and it should push the creature spawn points farther back and hopefully keep them from wandering in.

I can give you the seed in which I found my village and where it is, its fairly large, the main house in it is my house, lots of room and you can put a wall around it. If you want at least.

Virtual Private Network. Hamachi is the one I've used (use still for some games). Anyone on the Hamachi Network can join the MC server.
It's good for smaller servers of friends, Airflyer and I used it for a while. We just pay (by "we" I mean "him") anymore to rent a server, so much easier. :P
