Nope but then again I don't have a need for a touch screen PC in my home. I can do plenty using a keyboard and mouse.

From all I've read and all the reviews: MS is trying to bust out into the mobile tablet market and is forcing upon PC users the same OS as mobile devices will use (instead of making them separate, as they OUGHT to be!).

They're already working on Windows 9. I think I'll skip 8. When MS has an agenda it royally FUBARs the actual product (see Vista, see ME, see others). XBOX 720 will use a variation of Windows 9 as the OS, and I think I read that's slated for later 2012(?).

Really? I thought their 'agenda' was to make it easier for all devices to work together. Why is it you think they OUGHT to be separate? I dont think you can support that argument.

Mobile devices like smart phones, tablets, and other "portable media" devices do not share the same hardware nor the same capabilities as a "real" PC, no matter what marketting and commercials try to tell ya.

A "real" PC needs a number of features that mobile aps do not. Functions that are necessary to use an iPad, for example the touch screen interface, are clunky, and intrusive on a PC menu screen.

The system requirements, the hardware overhead, the drivers themselves for the minimized mobile hardware, nothing amongst the two categories even corresponds on a 1:1 scale to the other side.

Please support the argument that they SHOULD have the same OS? Because that is not logical. I'm not talking laptops, either. I lump those under "real" PCs.

Simple Krusty. Applications. Creating an App for Windows will also create an app for your tablet (iPad or whatever) or phone or whatever if they all have the same OS. That means greater market share and thats why Android is out to do the same thing.

I would greatly appreciate buying one app and only one app and running it on my PC and tablet both. That way I can carry my tablet and continue to create on the road. Laptops are already dead to me. I hate them. Their battery life sucks they get hot and they are heavy compared to a tablet that for the most part will do everything just as good.

An all supporting OS is what we all want. Oh... and down with Apple! hehe

speaking of tablets, i loved playing with the asus transformer (http://eee.asus.com/en/eeepad/transformer/design/) at fry's the other day.
it's a tablet that comes with a detachable keyboard, and its even slimmer than a netbook!
moving between multiple desktops by swiping at the screen was really trippy!

re: win8, it's also going to be ported to ARM.

It boots (20sec vs 30sec) and runs faster than Windows 7.  I've turned of the useless (to me) touch screen based Metro UI.  I haven't figured out how to get the new Task Manager without Metro UI.  I don't know if I care for the ribbon explorer since it eats up lots of display space.
