Dear ZetaNine,
I believe it is a federal offense to impersonate a Federal Agency operative. Consider your way or, perhaps, there may be a knock on the door.
Best wishes,
Midway

Oh, for a second I thought you were actually going to try to fly one.
Are you? For a whole tour perhaps?

Have flown one several times this tour. May some more... it's fun... not quite a Spitfire but seems pretty good. :aok

Good for you. Perhaps leave the training wheels and the Spit in the hanger for a while.
You never did try the Pony Bravo as you said you would, though, did you? I think that'd be a good plane for you to learn to fly behind someone's 3/9 line before pulling the trigger --- and it's still fairly competitive in the LWA.

Did once or twice last couple of tours.... She ain't no Spitfire, that's for sure. :salute :bolt:

Of course theres more to aerial combat then simple turning. Love roping spits in the K4.

If that is all you learned, you didn't really try.
If you're afraid of flying a plane that can't HO that well, then I understand. But remember, the idea is it's a learning exercise. If you are really trying to learn things, as you claim, you might consider trying it for more than one or two sorties.
Good luck.

She's not as good a turner as the Spitfire... and I don't like being a runstang. :bhead

So don't try to turn it like a spit and don't run with it.
Until you stop making excuses not to try, you will continue to fail to learn new ways.
(Edit: Remember, to put this in context, this is in direct response to your claiming on 200 you'd like to learn how not to HO so much.)

I already know how not to... and know how to avoid. :aok But moment(s) of weakness do occur. :cry
P51B not as much fun... :salute
Anyways, this thread was for the P47 training video.

The whole Don't Ho thing here makes me giggle like a school girl.
if you go out of your way to come at me co-alt...nose to nose...that...is an aggressive posture...........and I will ho every time.
-
and HO'ing a P-47 is like running head on , into a mack truck , with a Volkswagen!

So you'd rather take an option that at best has about a 50/50 chance of success than maneuver out of the way and try to get a shot that doesn't give you're opponent a chance at firing back?
The whole HO-ing thing doesn't really bother me, I just can't understand why people don't try to improve their odds a little.
-
Soulyss,
in a ho shot, usually both planes get damaged. So even if you win, theres a big chance (like 80%) that you get critical damage: engine out or at least oiled, radiator leak or pw, making you very vulnerable.
Following this logic, in an equal situation ho, you got 50+50*0.8=90% chance to die or take critical damage, what means death (sooner or later). Considering theres only 50% of a chance to get a kill, the odds are real bad...
Go HO-queens, go : D

my first year here all I cared about what points and perks.
now it's all about fun. I love 50/50 odds

Been reading about game theory, and I think it can explain this nicely.
If we set-up a basic pay-off matrix for this situation, it would look like this:
Noob-average opponent Expert
Manuver: +1 -2
HO: 0 0
I think the reason most people HO is that they aren't confident in their ability to outmanuver their opponent for whatever reason, be it lack of skill, disadvantaged, inferior aircraft, whatever it may be.
Where if they manuver, if they win, they only benefit in the imediate term, since they still remain airborn in a hostile enviornment. And if they lose, they get -2 because not only are they dead, but they didn't do any harm to their opponent. But if they HO, they're (basicly) guaranteed to break even.
For whatever reason, they decide that the reward isn't worth the risk, and take the guaranteed 0 over the possiblity of a +1.

Btw.
the thread title says "how to fly a p47". Yet here comes a ho-queen and keeps telling us why its so awsome to always ho. I got my opinion about you...
Yet not a single word about how/when to hammerhead, how to taliwhip, do any ACM, be smarter than your opponent and beat the crap outta him...
If all you know about the p47 that its the best hoer in game, then youre low, brother, from the worst kind, without any hope.
Lepape, LilMak, Juggler all real decent P-47 sticks, if you want to learn anything, ask them. If im unwary, they make my 109 look like a fool in no time.
