You guys have no idea how jelous of you I am. Not for the things you've seen and done, but that you've had the opportunity to rise above the rest and serve your country.
I've always wanted to serve my country since I was small, like my grandfather, and his grandfather before him. Unfotunatly I've been told I wouldn't make the cut due to poor vision in my right eye (20/200 uncorrectable).

I'm not spamming but I found a service buddy I haven't seen in almost 35 years on facebook. He sent me some photo's I have never seen of a 18 year old skinny kid in Korea. Wonderful to reminisce. :salute <S> Senior Airman "Skooter" Scott Engler! :D :rock Ace, It was OUR privilege. :D

USN( & R ) 85-89
got to work on AE-6's, A-4's, A-7's, F4-G/J/?'s, first 2 designated F-18's going to the Blue Angels and lastly ended up with VS-24 as well as selected for the nuclear weapons launch/recovery team for my squad......
edit: also worked @ NADEP, NAMTRADEPT, Corrosion Control, while at Cecil before heading to 24...... took training at NAS Memphis and out in Cali......
VS-24 Scouts ( the eagle holding broken sub patch in my avatar was my squadron patch )/ Carrier Airwing 8 ~ was a JetMech ( AD ) & asst flightLine Coordinator for my squadron while stationed on land at NAS Cecilfield, my auxillary duties was fuels/hydraulics petty officer..... checked all AC for fuel cell and hydraulic fluids contamination, etc..... High Power / Low Power Turn qualed and backseat for the S3
everything from Plane Captain to Troubleshooter while at sea
served on the USS Nimitz and then went to the USS Roosevelt when the Nimitz went into drydock up at WA state
both my last squadron VS-24 and the last Jet type I worked on have since been decommissioned and NAS Cecilfield has been closed down....... such a shame.......
Greatful <S> to all who have gave and are still giving

ozrocker,
"Refrigerator-85" was a good maneuver until it warmed up and thawed out after we got started. It was a road bound operation after that. I was in the Battalion from Sept-83 until I went to Bde Staff in Oct-85. There were latter Reforgers after Feb-85 but I do not think that they were open maneuver like the first part of 85 was.
