Several, plus a lot of hammering by friendlies.

I prefer the German 88mm whenever engaging armor against surface vessels.

They were used against B-17s before they were used on tanks

only related because it involves sinking a CV, but I surprised myself with something the other day, we had a CV group I hopped to in order to life and aid with an attack on a nearby Bish field, only to get in the tower and find the CV, cruiser, and all but one destroyer gone. Not surprised they were dead, as our CV was tracking a parallel course to a Bish CV and cruiser, no more than 1000 yards off our starboard side, directly alongside the single remaining knight destroyer. So, I figured I'd jump into a 5" gun on the destroyer and duke it out with the cruiser til they killed my little tin-can.

Well, in the hanger I managed to accidentally click on the foward 40mm on the destroyer instead of the 5"..... but figured "hey, lets try this out!"

Luckily, I found out 2 things: 1) there apparently was no one manning the guns on the Bish cruiser or CV, and 2) a cruiser and CV will sink to a single well aimed 40mm gun emplacement in a matter of less than a minute each.
