This is the first of a series of winter and desert theater GV skins I'm working on. These are more for future scenarios than the MA, as there are winter terrains being worked on by the terrain team. However I'll still submit them as MA skins anyway. I'd like to thank Ranger for making me this winter terrain to display these skins in.
This tank was part of the Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler division during the battles for Kharkov in February-March 1943. During these battles the German army managed to halt the post-Stalingrad Soviet offensive before counter attacking to retake the city of Kharkov and later Belgorod. The LSSAH division became infamous for the atrocities they committed, massacring thousands of Soviet prisoners.
Technically the Panzer IV I have skinned here was an Ausf G, however there is very little difference between an early G and an F2. Mostly its the lack of the side vision ports on the G. The turret numbers on this scheme are often depicted in red on models, but this is incorrect. The real tanks had white outline numbers with just the base colour of the tank (brown or dark grey) on the inside of the outline. The winter whitewash was painted up to the white outline of the number, just leaving the grey or brown centre of the number exposed.

It's not an actual terrain per say. It only has one airfield & nothing else. It's made for display purposes only.

I keep coming back and looking at those screenshots. That skin is just so perfect that I sit here and shake my head with mouth hanging open. I am absolutely amazed my friend.

what he said(if only we had a winter map to use it on)

flippin' awesome!

That is a very difficult skin to pull off, but I think you've done it rather well. Nice!
-
Thats close to photo-realistic.

Thanks guys, the nice thing about a white skin is it really shows up the dirt. The normal German colour schemes tend to....well...camouflage it to a degree.
STXAce8, its Ranger's terrain but if he has no objection I can send it to you. As he said it is only any good for taking screenshots really.

It's fine, as long as he realizes what he's getting. :)

deeeeeeeeeeeeeelicious greebo.
Very nice job.

A great lookin' winter skin, Greebo. It is truly sad that we do not have any snow terrain to play over in the MA's. :frown:
Anyone know why? Same goes for desert terrain. Why cant HTC or the owner of the snow/desert terrain maps simply take their maps, wipe off the historical bases, and plug in an equal number of bases across the entirety of the terrain??? There are some spectacular maps that get used once in a great while (once a year), that would be a HUGE breath of fresh air for the MA's.
[sorry for the hijack]

yeah i'd say its pretty photorealistic. it looks cold in the screenshots.
