314 million dollars is the development cost and the 20 bombs. Pretty damn cheap for a program involving the federal government.

I'd rather have those then have to nuke a site to be able to hit the underground targets. Think of the civilian casualties then.

Jesus effing C Zoom. Take your politics somewhere else.

and your comment on dropping it on some unsuspecting town, was beyond a facepalm, something a Kid would say.

That is some really weird stuff. Makes me extremely curious to what they are used for.

How many people live in secret underground weapons facilities?
-
Well, they could have used the old drawings from this one:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grand_Slam_%28bomb%29
Or to be more modest, this one:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tallboy_bomb#Design
Serious stuff, and nothing new here. Always re-invent the wheel though right?
-
Sorry guys, gotta take credit for this one, feds came to me with a problem. I said "make bigger boom"...problem solved
in?
-
Maybe they are planning on using these against Irans underground nuclear facilities, or any other country who we have knowledge of making underground nuclear weapons.
Kinda funny how these get delivered just in time as the America is pledging to stop iran's nuclear capabilities.
-
Bad idea, we bought this with other countries money that we owe! :furious
-
Better to have and not need, then need and not have :aok

Just another tool in the tool box.
When you gotta go deep .. ohh yaa baby, let it RAIN!!
..and if there is an unsuspecting small village above a target that warrants these .. we call that 'collateral damage' .. they call it 'camoflage'
..either way it will be instant urban renewal.

maybe my math is way off but isn't this around 15 kilotons?? Fat man was barely over 20! Holy boom
EDIT: Never mind, I see now that that isn't the explosive power.

20 bombs for $314 million!?
No wonder were bankrupt
-
When you have a b-52 made by Boeing than you HAVE to accessorize. Last year it was JDAMS and they simply went out of style thanks to using so many in the COD video games. This year it is the new Boeing 30k pounder. It promises complete destruction and has flashy looks. Next year they will add racing stripes which will result in 50 more MPH on the way to the target. :ahand
-
Thats not a bomb the B-52 just pinched a loaf......and the wierd circles with aircraft are a memorial site.

you need a friggin cookie.

20 bombs for $314 million!?
it would be fascinating to see a breakdown of exactly who got how much of that $314 million. the library of congress is your friend :aok
-
This is just an off shoot of the MOAB, but where the MOAB burst above ground they made this one to be a penetrating bomb. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cuGrDSP0rj8

I believe they are actually accessorizing the B-2. I remember reading somewhere that the 30K ground
penetrator is the largest weapon that can fit in it's bombbay.

lol that all you got lil troll? the Ipod "story" was real enlighting :rofl
-
Only a matter of time before we're going to have bombs that'll bust down and blow up Hell itself :devil

No....15 tons.........you would need 1000 of them to get to 15 kilotons
-
Do you know that it doesn't matter where they want to use it. We actually have to have the willpower to be able to stand up and do something instead of being a bunch of mamby, pamby whiner politically correct people.
-
they will always find excuses to drop bombs anywhere. don't worry, they will tell you its needed and call some random fellow a terrorist. They buy bombs, they have to use it. just how they think.

Suuuuuure
How about: They buy bombs, so they can use them. As opposed to not buying bombs, so they can't use them.
It's an American way of thinking that a majority of the rest of the world just can't comprehend; that arming yourself doesn't necessarily mean you want to destroy everything in sight.

I think you both are right, will fit inside the B-52 or B-2. I can't imagine they'll use the B-52 a lot if they have access to the B-2.
