Title: Week of November 25, 2011-- Battle of Berlin
Post by: captain1ma on November 17, 2011, 08:31:43 AM
This setup is kind of a base capture, aerial battle, tank battle, fun thing. the map isn't perfect for this setup but i wanted it to be fun. i especially wanted to be the first one to try it out. its a great map! this setup is loosely based on the actual battle. I hope this works for you all.

Hitlers days are waning. The Russians and Americans have cut off Berlin.
it is now only a matter of time before Berlin falls. Berlin is the tanktown to the south.
Berlin must be captured!

yet another set up where I really wish the tank busting version of the stuka was modeled in game.

If you're talking Battle of Berlin as in end of war, then the 1942 109G2 and the 1943 190A5 ought not be in the list. The A8 would be, as it served up until the end along with fewer A-9s and D-9s. Skipping the jets and rockets, you might add the 152 in a couple limited locations to represent the many late-war prop planes Germany was fielding around this time.

For the allied side, the Yak9T was phased out before this time frame and most units would be P-39s or Yak9Us. Similarly, La-5FNs would be mostly gone by this point, while P-39s and La-7s served until the final days of the war. You lose a couple options on your list but you could make up for that by adding the typhie and tempie (one for ground attack against tanks, one for use either as attacker or fighter). If you want a rocket truck for the Soviets, use the SDK. It has rockets and 2 sets of supplies. It can fire 18 rks all by itself. The Wirb is a poor choice since it's an AA platform and the Katyusha trucks were ground bombardment tools.

Definitely an interesting setup with the tank battle going on. Just thought I'd add some food for thought.

EDIT: In lieu of the Ju-87G, maybe give the axis the slow lumbering Hurr2D? Small ammo count, 2 guns under wing in pods, etc... other than the tail gunner and higher top speed (and other than looks) it could fill in for the stuka .... sorta.

I like this idea. Just out of curiosity here krusty since you mentioned looks, which plane (Hurri or stuka) do you prefer aesthetically?

I think both are ungainly, but I rather like the planform (top down) view of the forward-swept trailing edges on the Stuka. Looks more menacing. This is somewhat offset by the diminished canopy shape and the awkward nose, but between the two I'd go Stuka over Hurri2D.

In my post I didn't mean that it looked bad, just that it looked "different" (it was a visual break from your in-game immersion)

ok guys, i changed the name on my map and get the same problem you're all having. here's what you do to fix it. go to custom arena. load the avasml map and create a arena. then get out of it head to the AVA. it should load fine then. i just tried it and it worked for me. i hope this helps.

only if you fly it from the north, but it would be kinda mean to kill them with 4k bombs.

what about 1000 kilo and 250 kilo bombs? I kill GVs using the 3 bomb loadout. But I guess it would break up a fun tank fight; maybe next time.

To capture "Berlin", you must take down all the Town building on the enemy side of the river, then all the ack at the enemy V-base, then drop troops at the enemy V-base. Clipboard maps are available at the head of this thread.

my computer died last night. im hoping to have it fixed by tomorrow. if not, i may not be able to participate, although i can probably watch. you have to drop the town and the vbase to capture the vbase.

I don't think my problem is the same as yours but have had connection problems all week.  discoed 5 times in 3 arenas last night.  Not sure how long I'll last tonight.  Internet here has been up and down.   :old:
