Title: HiTech Retirement
Post by: titanic3 on November 18, 2011, 07:15:46 PM
Can I have the deeds to your company?  :D

On a serious note, who's going to take over after you retire?

You did see the pictures of his infant daughter taken while in flight didn't you?

Seems to me she'll be the one to worry about.  Clearly Hitech was heading off any 2 year old flight modeling tantrums :)

Hitech is 50-ish, so he is no where near retirement.  ;)   Obviously, we don't know the details but Pyro has a significant amount of pull in more than one way within HTC.  So in other words, dont just look at Hitechf for if and when.   :aok

No, not that question. Unless you're best friends or something.

HiTech :  "have you read the BBS"

Prospective owner : "yes"

HiTech : " and you still want to buy this?"

Oh, so random lunacy rather than an actual reference to some piece of news?

Okay, whatever. Moving on.

Put yourself in the position of being the asked instead of the asker.

Call me clueless, but I still don't get why everyone is all upset about it.
Imagine I own a big company, say "Bob's Brewery", I know I can't work forever, and so do my workers, one of them comes up to me and asks "Who's going to take over after you retire?" I would answer "*insert name here*".

What's wrong with that? :headscratch:
I'm not offending anyone, nor am I implying that the owner of the company should quit. No idea why the hell everyone is getting their pants in a knot.

It's just generally not an acceptable social question, especially for someone who is probably a long ways away from retirement and someone you don't know personally.  You generally don't ask total strangers how much they weight, or how much money they make.  They are just acquired social skills one attains as you get older.

Yes, I completely agree, but I do think it's a legitimate question to be asked.

I myself have wondered the same thing. What would happen of Hitech passed away? Would the community be able to stick
together? Would the team be able to function regardless? These thoughts frighten me.

I've seen one game fail and die because the owner had unexpectedly passed away without a plan of management.
The people took over and became corrupt, it all went to hell, and everybody left and it was removed from existence.

RIP Debbie  :frown: :salute
