With the latest updates (shift+w) shifting out of 1st gear in a gv has been difficult at times. Sometimes my gv just will not shift out of 1st gear. I have come to the conclusion that shifting requires the gv to be traveling perfectly straight ahead. The bad news is if your stick/pedals are not calibrated (or not very good/old and not as good as new) then 2nd and higher gears may be impossible to obtain.
Please open the window for allowing the game to shift gears. Or else, everyone not in the know does one of these: :joystick: :bhead :furious :bhead :furious :bhead :furious :bhead :furious

Perhaps you should calibrate your equipment; why would you not? :headscratch:

increase your deadband and/or damping if your equipment is a bit sloppy, that will stop any unintended input from messing with the gv gear shifting.

I have experienced this many times :bhead i did not think my joystick would effect this. :headscratch:

Everytime I roll a Panther or Tiger2 I have the same problem ,been mapping new keys put it as Control M for full speed. I found out that if I rotate the tank while hitting contrl M it goes to full speed , But when I use the keypad to change gears and start going forward ,I get stuck in 1st Gear? is this a bug or something? I have not changed my mapped keys how could this have changed?

We need to be able to set deadband for each stick set.

Which key? If you remapped it, which key was it before?

We need to be able to set deadband for each stick set.
You can. You select the stick from the Map Controllers panel, then select the axis, then check the "advanced" option to set it.
If you are not selecting an axis, then you are not doing anything in the "advanced" panel.

When I modify deadband on any axis in any stick set, it applies to all stick sets.

I was using the forward arrow Key as my throttle per say, And now I have to pivet the tank in order to change gear.
EDIT: its almost as if I have to keep hitting the forward arrow key to change gears when before I could just hold it?

Well, that would be a bug and should be reported.

I think he may be talking about the stick modes. In mode one rudder scaling set soft, in mode two I need I'd much quicker, but I can only have set of scaling per axis in each mode.

Per mode, that is absolutely true. The same axis in each mode does use the same configuration.

If you remapped W to the forward arrow, you will need to hold down the forward arrow until you are going as fast as you want. It will shift automatically.
If you remmaped Shift + W, full speed ahead, to the forward arrow and it is not shifting it is a calibration issue.

Program a button on your stick for full throttle and for get shifting.... :bolt:

Easy fix..........go back to old way of shifting gears. Dont have a clue why this ever got changed.

So you want to push a button?

It was changed so that people coming into the game with out a joystick can still be up and running in a few minutes. My guess is that mapping to both an axis or a button isn't the easiest thing so we have a one or the other situation and HTC went with the one that works for the majority of the players.
As for the problem, I use it as an advantage. I have a button on my stick that I hit to go full speed.... as long as I'm strait. I hit it and add a bit of turn to creep into a position. Works great.
