Title: AIC album question
Post by: skorpion on November 21, 2011, 06:32:44 PM
Ok, to start this off, i just want to say that if your posting here you better have some darn good education on alice in chains, i dont need random people coming in here and screwing the thread with their music thats "better", ESPECIALLY R.A.P.

So, as the title says, i have a question about Alice in Chains and their albums, i have 4 of them Dirt, Jar of flies, Black Gives Way to Blue and Facelift, almost all of them. im missing the MTV unplugged version with all of their greatest hits, and i want to know if they are coming out with another album sometime soon, their last one was in 2009 so im thinking that they might release a new one sometime next year or maybe very late this year in December. (holy crap 89 letter sentence that isnt a run-on!  :lol i win)

Does anyone know if they will or if im still in the grey area of this?

In my opinion, Alice in Chains ceased to be when Layne Staley overdosed on an eight ball.

Perhaps Christmas time or early next year.

Their new album is pretty good, sure they took a pretty massive hit when Layne accidentally offed himself, but they got William now, and hes really putting out some rectum-hole kicking vocals with Jerry. Sure William cant replace Layne, nobody can...and i don't care. They got back and they took a stand and now they are back in business.

I never said anything about opinions on AIC...i just said i dont want people who think their music is sooo much better ruining this. anything AIC related is fine here.

Ok.. time for a life lesson.

The absolute fastest way to garner undesired response is to specifically state you don't want any undesired response.  The logic of this will become clearer to you, as time goes by.

As a parent, you will discover, quickly, that the most surefire way to get a kid to do something is to tell them not to.  Dr. Cosby will confirm this.

You're better off asking for opinions, ignore the detractors, and post in a way to get the topic back on track.  The denizens of this board love to poke and prod at the wounded.  Never let them see you bleed.

Have a nice day.

Oh.. is Alice in Chains on PS3?

But the video I posted was with layne.  :uhoh

Aside from that, I think you need to take things in perspective.  Rock has been absolutely dreadful for the most part the past ten years with a few shining lights.   Without getting into it too much, the latest AIC release Black Gives Way to Blue was a breathe of fresh air and a damn good album.  Since Jerry Cantrell carried AIC on his back for its entire existence anyways as well as taking a heavy share of the singing, I see no reason why they still shouldn't still call themselves Alice in Chains or why they should be looked at as any lesser of a form now without Layne.  Was AIC great with Layne?  Absolutely, but they're damn good without him as well and I am really looking forward to what they release next.  They're still one of the top bands in rock now, even though that's not saying much.

I will admit I am biased because I like new music, and nowadays it is like searching for a needle in a haystack but it beats the hell out of listening to the same favorite songs I grew up on for the bajillionth time.

I have seen the original lineup a couple of times.   The quote you posted from me was one of me laughing at what cap said.

I remember the Unplugged series and know that Layne was in the video...but what cap said, was funny.

There are plenty of bands I like nowadays.   But when you resurrect a bands name with different members, that is where I part ways with them.

I agree with you on Alice in Chains unplugged album is probably their best one.  That album really lets you hear how good musicians they were and it really made the songs stand out and can appreciate the quality of the song writing.

I LOVE YOU.

Alice in Chains. That's it. The greatest band to ever grace the Earth with it's presence. Some were so almighty they gave up their life for immortality through indulgence on the greatest of herbs. They walk with us now, influencing the current member's strides to fill the big shoes of the Grunge Gods. This band, my friends, is more than a band. It is the way of life for America. If everyone followed in these glorious men's footsteps, then the world would be pure and ephervescent. Playing their songs during daily life pleasures the soul and induces will and power into your body, and the will allows you to take great interest in your activity and excel at it. These Gods love all their children and forgive thee who likes different, less glorious bands who use computers to do all their work. Yes, the Grunge Gods will forgive even thou, dubsteppers and Katy Perry. And you, 50 cent and Lil Wayne. And they will grace thou as well, Lady Gaga fans.. You must only bathe yourself in the beautifullness of their music.

Unless your a Jap, they hate Japs.

And, more to the point, the new album is out and it's really great in my opinion. Actually, I think Black Gives Way to Blue is the greatest song ever...
