Title: Having a throttle issue
Post by: DCCBOSS on November 24, 2011, 07:35:22 AM
Has anyone run into having all functions but throttle only has a partial engine throttle up on the plane itself, it show the throttle moving full swing in the plane cockpit but the engine only revs about 10%, if I hit the wep button I get full throttle but as soon as I take wep off it goes back to 10% again. I checked my desk top setting and calibration and in game also, everything is in order, I don't know where to go next. Oh I also reloaded the last version again and the high res, cycled the my computer pretty much everthing I can think of.

Any help would be appreciated.

are you running that stick on a powered USB hub? Lack of power makes those sticks do weird things sometimes.

yes it is on a usb hub and I've changed it's location and check all connections, the funny thing thou when check calibration only my desk top it move fine, and the same in game also when looking the throttle lever in the cockpit it move full swing also, also if go full throttle then hit the wep it will go full throttle plus wep, as soon as I take off it goes back low throttle again  :bhead

I'm not sure if you can do this, but do you have a second analog control tied to the throttle in the game? Maybe the mouse, or a rotary wheel that you thought you set to RPMs?

I am pretty sure there's a bug in ah somewhere.  I have had it and it went away on its own.  but in my case all i had to do with pull the throttle to zero then 100% and it would go away.  lost 3 sets of b29's in a row before I figure it out.  there's a few people out there that also had the same thing happen to them.   then only way it wont be a bug is if you have another button mapped to throttle and it is malfunctioning.

If you have anything mapped to rpm etc, check to make sure you've not been playing with the mapped switch/button/slider/rotary - or anyone else has moved it. Found this out the hard way as I constantly fiddle with my throttle when reading online - went to up, no power, so stopped, .efluffied out, tried again, no power (on my 3rd attempt, found I'd turned my rpm real low and was only able to deliver the power it was set to)

Yes on RPM :old:

Yes the slider on my throttle was mapped to engine RPM was the issue, it was working fine until I shut my system down and move it to a new location which is when the problem started, I unmapped it and the problem is gone, I will try to remap it later, but thanks for the help guys.

Don't forget to move that slider through it full range of motion when you calibrate your stick. If you forget to it won't work correctly.

Yes, you want to make sure you move every analog input through its full range of motion when you calibrate your stick. If you have an X52 that means on top of all the normal flight axes (bank, pitch, yaw, and throttle) you want to move the rotary knobs and the slider as well. An added note is that the game tells you to center all axes before clicking Okay. On the stick and rudders it's easy: just let go. But don't forget to center all those little gizmos on your throttle as well.

Skuzzy said never never never unplug you input devices and use same ports always :old:

My throttle does that from time to time and I usually have to disconnect it from the computer then plug it back in to get it to work. I have no idea why but it is the only way I can get it to work.

Check under power management for that device (through device manager) and make sure the check box for allowing the usb channel its on to sleep isnt checked. Might help.

I have all the USB ports selected to be powered full time. Unfortunately it has no effect. The settings in devices and printers shows that it is working normally. I can even see the bar moving as I move the throttle but for some reason AH doesn't see it changing at all, at least not until I disconnect and reconnect it. I even have everything on a powered hub.

Since I have moved over this new PC which runs on Windows 7, I have found more oddities than I have ever had. I usually find some kind of work around though.

Hmmm, odd, did you check the usb port your hub is plugged into for going into sleep? Cant think of anything else off the top of my head - got back from a gig at 3am having dropped off drunken bandmates - so not fully with it today (if I ever am lol....)

Thanks for your help wurz.

I actually went in and made sure all usb ports were on full time just to make sure that I got the right one.

I thought it pretty odd too. I will just have to stick to disconnecting and reconnecting it. It does seem to happen more frequently when the computer goes to sleep and then resumes than when I shut down and restart.

I may just have to start turning the pc off instead of letting it sleep.

Ya the "letting your computer sleep" part may be where your problem is. I thought Skuzzy <--- not sure so don't hold me to it... may have said that letting your computer "sleep" could cause problems. I know it was the first thing I turned off once I up-graded to Win7.

Another thing might be a weak power supply. That is why it's always a good idea to use a powered USB hub. The more USB devices you have to more power it sucks out of your computers power supply.

As Fugi says, windows implementation of "sleep" in win7 (and various other flavors of windows) is not very good. Suggest turning it off and starting from "scratch" as it were.
