Title: Sherman VC Firefly optics question.
Post by: skorpion on November 25, 2011, 09:18:02 PM
Today i was messing around in tanks, as usual, and i upped the firefly to check out the usefulness of the gun. well it works great against tigers...but i ran into a problem with the optics. when i go to them, i dont get any of the lines in the center that tell you where to aim. is this a bug, or does my computer not want to load these in? is it my graphics card? or does the game just not like me?

heres a screenshot of it.

First off, the Firefly is second only to the King Tiger in AP performance, if anything can destroy a tank it is the Firefly.   :aok

Secondly, what you have there is a case of the terrain and the range lines being the same or very near the same color.  It happens if the conditions are right, thankfully it has not happened to me during a tank battle.

i know its not the terrain, the lines are a very bright white color, and the terrain is a light sandy yellow color, you would be able to see the marks.

The lines will change brightness depending on the angle of the sun.  I've just tried to duplicate it with the Firefly and came close... but not exact.

the sun wasnt really a factor in this, this has been happening since we got the new GV model. I was playing with the sherman once before when the sun was at the 6:00 position, still no lines.

Do the lines for the other tank sights do the same thing?

I hadn't noticed anything since the new GV model, although I never really was a fan of the firefly, and didn't take it out much. Perhaps your system just doesn't like the firefly, or that gunsight (for some reason) just over-taxes your graphics card.

Try running at lower settings, and see if the problem persists.

thats not it at all. i maxed out the graphics then turned it down to minimal, still nothing.

and i doubt a gunsight is going to overtax my graphics card. if that was the case, i should be able to even see the tank.

Hey, watermelon happens. Computers can be very finicky. One "0" in the code where there should be a "1" and the program might not function properly if it functions at all.

I'd say wait and see, perhaps ask around in the game. If nobody else expierences/has experienced the problem, then that can only mean its on your end, bud.
